One of the most important part is the campaigning or marketing journey of the book 🔈 This week, let's revisit the marketing campaign of 'Blue Sisters' by Coco Mellors 🙌🏻 'Blue Sisters' has dominated bookshops even before coming out. Mellors created a storm on social media by talking about her passionate journey with the book and went on tours as well, the first stop being Waterstones’ flagship store in Piccadilly. One of her most exciting appearances was her event at the Hay Festival in May, where she spoke to TikTok and YouTube sensation Jack Edwards. This is the future of brand content marketing I’ve been pushing for almost a decade. A lot of brand marketers need to rewire their brains to stop thinking paid advertising first strategies when it comes to traditional client agency relationships and owned media versus renting to 3rd party publishers who control the data. BE the publisher. B2B companies get this more than B2C companies do, but with a crowded and commoditized market how do you differentiate your product offering? You stop trying to have the sales team pitch slap your ad fatigued target audience and pivot to storytelling through relatable humor and lifestyle marketing. This is optimizing for long term performance marketing vs reactive performance marketing. CEOs and CFOs who don’t understand the current headwinds the marketing industry will say there is no immediate ROI and production costs are too high, but production costs of doing it yourself are WAY cheaper than deploying other tactics to attract and acquire. Brands need to learn how to become internal content production houses, network TV station style programmers, and publishers. If you’re living under a rock and not on TikTok you’re missing the genius of Nathanael Greklek Grace Kerber at Mohawk Chevrolet. Their latest episode addresses the CDK Global ransomware hack without naming names. A great follow on TikTok. Sell the sizzle not the steak.
