A novel approach for transforming pest management practices is currently gaining momentum in Europe: pesticide-free, non-organic production systems. These involve the non-use of pesticides in parts of crop rotations or entire crop rotations. More info about this 'middle way' can be found in a recent study published in Nature Plants that examines real-world examples of such systems. https://lnkd.in/enH2apFV #PesticideFree #SustainableAgriculture #Farmers #AgriculturalInnovation #FarmingCommunity #AgTech #EcoFriendlyFarming #GlobalAgriculture #FoodSecurity #Collaboration #Research #EconomicViability #FutureFarming #GreenSolutions #Biodiversity #Partnerships

The discovery of fire has had a profound impact on humanity, providing benefits when used responsibly but also causing destruction when uncontrolled. Similarly, modern innovations such as chemical-based crop protection have the potential for great benefit if used wisely. Crop Protection Solutions have played a crucial role in global food security by tripling crop production since 1960. With the global population expected to increase by nearly 2 billion in the next 30 years, a balanced approach to sustainably meet food demands while safeguarding resources is necessary. Extreme measures like banning chemical solutions won't adequately address these challenges. It's imperative to embrace innovation and sustainable farming practices to ensure food security for the future. #CropProtection #FoodSecurity #SustainableFarming #Agriculture #Pesticides #Innovation #AgTech #FeedingTheFuture AgNur Consulting

Recently, we had Dan Papacek, Director of Bugs for Bugs at the #UQ Gatton campus, share alarming insights during his presentation. He highlighted a concerning pesticide use pattern for leafy #vegetable crops in Australia, indicating that within less than two months, there are 59 pesticide applications. This emphasises the urgent need to prioritise investments in #non_chemical methods for controlling #plant_pests and diseases. Sustainable and eco-friendly approaches are crucial for a healthier agricultural ecosystem. #IPM #Biological_Control #Crop_protection

#worldenvironmentday Using ESRF's bright light to address agricultural challenges Today pesticides in classic and organic agriculture 🌿are often based on metals, which can become toxic in large quantities. Metals like copper are used as pesticides, so they can make food available, but at the same time they pollute and degrade soils, which, in turn, won't be good for future crops.🌾 How can we find ways of securing crops without damaging the environment? #Nanofertilizers and #nanopesticides can potentially be the answer.
