We're really close to 2025, and I often use this time in the teams to reflect a bit on the year that has passed, and the year to come. A fun twist to this is: "Worst New Year". In many ways, our Western society is currently in a "moment of light," where prosperity has reduced our exposure to challenges. Yet this ease has also led to fewer "battle-tested" individuals facing the day-to-day grind. The good news? The competition has never been lighter for those willing to do the work. Alex Hormozi puts it simply: "You just need to show up, be on time, prepare the night before, remember people’s names, actually follow up when you say you’re going to, and try like you mean it, rather than trying like you want to get credit for trying." In this era of abundant resources—where answers are just a question away (thank you, AI!)—we still find ourselves tripped up by entitlement: 🔑 Expecting recognition without earning it damages not just individual performance but team dynamics. 🔑 Trying out isn’t enough. Results require effort, focus, and follow-through. So, what can we do? ✔ Restate the complexity of the tasks and goals at hand to calibrate expectations. ✔ Shift focus from recognition to impact. Let your actions inspire others to rise to the occasion. We’re in one of the best times in history to grow, learn, and achieve.
