I hope this does not happen. If anything, there's need for more funding, not less. These programs are vital, especially as the FDA continues to revise its rules on a rolling basis. Consistent and adequate funding is essential for ensuring food safety and keeping up with evolving regulations. Recent outbreaks of foodborne illnesses involving produce and other commonly consumed foods highlight just how critical these programs are. Moreover, the recent changes to the Agricultural Water Rule and the newly posted Food Traceability Rule require additional resources for implementation and compliance. State programs are instrumental in ensuring that these changes are effectively communicated and enforced.
