New Orleans is a city where culture runs deep and the energy of the crowd is as vibrant as its rich history. 🎺✨ Our own Rich Vallaster III, CEM, DES brought back not just beignets and blues but invaluable insights from the @NSBA Conference for Public Education Leaders. Here are three takeaways for event professionals looking to make the most out of their host cities: 1️⃣ Destination Matters: Choose a city that beckons not just you, but also your attendees AND their families. A destination worth the travel. 2️⃣ Merge Event with Experience: Blur the lines between event spaces and city streets. “Efforts such as art installations and design innovation are not just about events but are becoming part of the fabric of the community. This continues to push the future of convention centers as flexible, multi-functional spaces that foster engagement and appeal to both industry professionals and tourists alike.” - John Page, Regional Vice President, Convention Centers - ASM Global
Across the globe, convention centers are embracing year-round public use. What is an Official Plan? It is a long-range planning document that sets out goals, objectives, and policies to guide growth and development in a municipality, and directs how land in a municipality should be used. Land use planning policies are complex and can include many aspects, from where and what types of housing are permitted, to the kinds of retail or industry that are needed, to what type of services are required to support the residents of a municipality. My Planning Team at the Town of Essex, Ontario, in collaboration with our planning consultant WSP in Canada, is hosting three (3) Open Houses to present and review the Town's Draft New Official Plan. Our Official Plan is intended to fulfill certain planning objectives over the next 25 years and is guided by the following principles: o Building on our Agricultural Strengths o Leveraging our Location for Employment o Elevating our Unique Communities o Achieving a Sustainable and Resilient Town If you are a resident, landowner, business, or tenant in the Town of Essex (Essex Centre, Harrow, McGregor, Colchester, Gesto, and everything in between!), please consider dropping in to one of the Open Houses or reviewing the information on our Project Webpage. Your Community. Your Vision.
Join us for the Town of Essex Official Plan Open House Events! We are inviting the public to attend an open house event to review and provide input on the Draft New Official Plan and Colchester Secondary Plan. Your voice matters in shaping the future of our community! Open House #1 📅 Date: Wednesday, August 28, 2024 ⏰ Time: Drop in anytime 5-7pm 📍 Location: Colchester Harbour Community Centre (100 Jackson Street, Colchester) Focus: Colchester Secondary Plan Open House #2 📅 Date: Wednesday, September 4, 2024 ⏰ Time: Drop in anytime 5-7pm 📍 Location: Essex Arena Shaheen Room (60 Fairview Avenue West, Essex) Focus: Municipal-wide Official Plan Open House #3 📅 Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2024 ⏰ Time: Drop in anytime 5-7pm 📍 Location: Harrow Arena Community Room (243 McAffee Street, Harrow) Focus: Municipal-wide Official Plan The Draft New Official Plan is available to view at essex.ca/OfficialPlan and the Town of Essex Gesto Office (2610 County Road 12, Essex) during regular business hours. I really believe that offering yourself fractionally is an amazing opportunity for both yourself and the business you are supporting. I get to learn about new industries and products - variety is the spice of life. Businesses get me for a fraction of the cost - what could be better than that. Today I am working with Glimpse of the Future for Phil Shatz. He hosts these amazing events where you get to network in the #construction industry and learn about some amazing real-world case studies. All in bite-sized 15 minute chunks. An homage to L&D. In fact, the next event is on Tuesday and there are still tickets available. You can choose the In-person event at The Little Ship Club in London or, if you can't make it to the big smoke, you can join virtually and bring your own packed lunch. See more information here, and also join the free community to keep up to date with Glimpse in 2025: https://lnkd.in/dJHj_pZa Even if you don't float about in the Construction industry, it's an interesting event and an amazing venue. See you there? P.S. Because I am in the know I might be able to get you a good seat, and point you in the direction of some discounted tickets.
