Ever heard people joke about working a 90-hour week? It's no laughing matter. Pushing yourself to the brink with such a schedule can lead to severe burnout and devastating mental health issues like anxiety and depression. It’s akin to trying to run a marathon without training; you’re bound to face injuries and setbacks. The reality is, we've seen too many cases where individuals isolate themselves, losing precious time with family and friends because work took over their lives. Yet, some leaders in the business world still tout extensive workweeks as necessary, sparking debates on what we truly value in life and work. Public figures and ordinary folks alike are vocal about the need for balance and wellbeing, pointing out that this culture of overworking is not sustainable. What’s the alternative? Giving up on the idea of working excessively as a norm. Or choosing to reevaluate and innovate how we approach work-life balance, ensuring productivity doesn’t come at the cost of personal health. It’s a choice that should be simple for all of us. Let's make it happen. #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealthMatters #EndBurnout #SustainableWorkCulture #WellbeingAtWork #90 #hours

Burn - how to spot the signs 🚸 Have you ever sat in the office and spotted a colleague or a team member experiencing a rough week and it's only Wednesday? If so, that’s your opportunity to influence how they experience the work environment. You can turn WTF (not what you think 😆) into actions that could have a real impact on how they feel: ‘W’ – reach out to them and invite them into a quiet space. Find out 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 is happening to them and measure where they are at on the wellness scale to decide your next step. ‘T’ – go outside into the fresh air 𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 to brainstorm potential work arounds that may help them out. Remember, self-care is also important, so if you are not in the right headspace to support someone, find someone who is and/or connect them with EAP. ‘F’ – provide a 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗟𝗬 ear and be their cheerleader as they reengage and reconnect whilst making the necessary changes that will place them at the top of the wellness scale once again. Don’t ignore the signs of burnout at work. Remember to take care of those around you. #workteam #colleaguesupport #officesupport #burnout

Your Mental Health can catch up to you in the workplace discreetly. Life can often feel like a high-stakes movie, and for me, that reality hit hard last year. Despite my resilience, I was overworked and ended up hospitalized during Christmas—an experience that brought into sharp focus how discreetly mental health struggles can creep up on us. Mental health isn’t just a personal issue—it’s a workplace concern too. Overwork, stress, and burnout can impact not only your well-being but also your productivity and team dynamics. Recognizing and addressing these issues proactively is key to maintaining a healthy work environment. Here’s how to connect mental health with your work life, while fostering a supportive environment: 🔹 Monitor Your Workload: Pay attention to signs of overwork and stress. Ensure that your workload is manageable and that you’re not sacrificing your health for productivity. 🔹 Open Communication: Foster a culture where discussing mental health is encouraged. Transparency with your team and management can help identify and address issues before they escalate. 🔹 Encourage Breaks: Regular breaks and time off are crucial. They help prevent burnout and allow you to return to work with renewed energy and focus. 🔹 Promote Self-Care: Integrate self-care into your routine. Whether it’s setting boundaries, pursuing hobbies, or engaging in mindfulness practices, find what helps you stay balanced. 🔹 Seek Support: Surround yourself with people who genuinely support you. In line with Simon Sinek’s value of building a circle of support, having individuals who understand and care about your well-being can make a significant difference. Utilize available resources, such as counseling services or employee assistance programs, and don’t hesitate to lean on supportive colleagues. Resilience is not just about pushing through—it’s about recognizing when you need to pause, seek help, and take action to care for yourself. A healthy workforce starts with healthy individuals and a supportive environment. What strategies do you use to maintain mental health at work?
