Pakistan has made significant strides in its digital government capabilities, as evidenced by its 14-position jump to 136th place in the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2024. This advancement marks a historic transition from the "Middle EGDI category" to the "High EGDI category," demonstrating substantial progress in its digital infrastructure and governance. Pakistan's EGDI score has increased to 0.5095, up from 0.4238 in 2022. While still trailing behind global leaders like Denmark and regional frontrunners such as Singapore and the Maldives, this progress is a promising indicator of Pakistan's digital transformation. The country also made notable strides in the E-Participation Index, moving to 88th place with a score of 0.49, up from 106th and 0.36 in 2022. Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Shaza Khawaja, attributed this success to the unwavering support of the Prime Minister and recognized the efforts of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and the Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan (MoITT) in driving these advancements. #DigitalPakistan #TechUpdate

Uzbekistan has significant potential for new Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with room to grow. RIPEstat data shows that only 84 ASNs are routed in the country, compared to Spain with 959, Ukraine with 1685, and Russia with 5034. The challenge lies in high costs due to the requirement for all external traffic to be processed through SORM, leading to a unique cost structure heavily influenced by upstream traffic. Moreover, the country has only three exchange points in Tashkent, while Spain, Ukraine, and Russia have far more. Establishing more IXPs in regional centers could help reduce costs and improve connectivity. Exciting developments are on the horizon as from January 1, 2025, telecom operators in Uzbekistan will connect directly to the international Internet, following a presidential decree aimed at market reforms. This long-awaited reform, discussed since 2019, holds promise for the future of the country's telecommunications sector. Let's stay tuned to see how these changes will unfold. #Uzbekistan #Telecommunications #ISPs

The Prime Minister of #Pakistan frequently uses Twitter to engage with global figures. Govt institutions like Foreign Office, Islamabad Police, former and current IT minister regularly use it to muse, communicate. All the while Twitter officially remains blocked so clearly VPNs are being used by Govt's own people, at the highest levels. PTA is bankrolled by the hard earned taxes of you and I (the salaried class and the like) and have nothing but nuisance value to offer in return. In a dying, shrinking economy where GDP is a paltry $300 Billion odd for a population of 250,000,000 with booming 3.5+ official birth rates (heaven knows our census data is off), the civilian population who don't have the easiest, for life jobs in Federal, Provincial Govt are forced to find business abroad like freelance clients in UK, USA. Social Media platforms cross engagement is the best way to build a brand, especially when you are facing the mountains of negative tropes against Pakistanis such as international perceptions that we are extremist, unethical, incompetent. Govt departments that cannot help tax paying, hard working Pakistanis growing the overall economic pie have no right to exist, let alone have the kind of sprawling, over arching, shadowy, unaccountable control, the kind PTA enjoys. I have met Govt employees like PTA staffers who have never done an actual's day of skilled work in their life, all the while enjoying the easiest paycheck for life, while tax payers bleed and simultaneously also face the endless hurdles, problems Govt creates for the wealth generators. Pakistan's Internet has gone straight back to the dial up era due to persistent throttling, Govt micromanagement, attempts at manipulating the internet architecture. This is how you end up with Pakistanis setting up Singapore Hold Co, UAE, Saudi Arabia subsidiary, applying for Estonia E-Residency, registering a USA LLC, a Malta company. Like 1990s India, Govt has to shrink back and let private enterprise thrive and grow economic pie; even parasitic rent seeking elites will be better off. Otherwise, we'd balloon to 450,000,000 by 2050 and remain one of the poorest countries in the modern world by GDP per capita, while climate change stressors like fresh water scarcity wreak havoc on us.
