This week is National Women’s Health Week, and we want to shine a spotlight on the importance of women’s health and well-being. It’s a reminder for women everywhere to prioritize their health and self-care. Here are a few ways to improve your overall physical and mental health: 1. Get regular check-ups, including annual wellness visits and all recommended cancer and other health screenings 2. Mental well-being is just as important as physical health, take time to relax, do things you enjoy, lean on your support system and seek help when you may need it 3. Practice healthy habits. It's National Women's Health Week, a time to focus on the health and wellness of women across the country. We believe that women's health is essential to the well-being of families, communities, and society as a whole. Here are five tips to help you prioritize your health this week and beyond: 1) Get Moving - Regular physical activity can help reduce your risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. Find an activity you enjoy, whether it's dancing, hiking, or yoga, and make it a part of your routine. 2) Eat Well - A balanced diet can help you maintain a healthy weight and reduce your risk of chronic diseases. Choose foods that are high in nutrients and low in saturated fats, sugar, and sodium. 3) Prioritize Mental Health - Mental health is just as important as physical health. Take time to manage stress, practice self-care, and seek support if you're feeling overwhelmed. 4) Get Screened - Regular screenings can help detect diseases early when they're most treatable. Talk to your healthcare provider about recommended screenings based on your age and health history. 5) Connect with Others - Strong social connections can improve your overall health and well-being. Reach out to friends and family, join a community group, or volunteer for a cause you care about. Join us in celebrating National Women's Health Week and making your health a priority. It is Men's Health Week - and this is my latest blog. I hope you resonate and if you do, would love for you to 'like', comment, or repost - as this helps to spread the Good that the message can do! #InsightfulPath; #MensHealth;
This is Men's Health Week, 2024. It is, as the Australian Men's Health Forum says, '...an opportunity to highlight the importance of men's health, and to promote and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our communities.' I have had a long history with men's health - from before my time working on the first Australian National Male Health Policy. And as an active Dad (and Step-Dad), I feel privileged to be able to raise awareness of the importance of men's health. This post not only looks at some influential research into the social determinants of health, but also shares a broader perspective on the mythopoetic influences on wellbeing through reference to a deep influence on my own Insightful Path. I hope you can take the time to read, inquire and start some conversations on what you resonate with. #InsightfulPath; #MensHealth; #InnovativeLearningDesign; #EngagingFacilitation; #InsightfulProfessionalCoaching https://lnkd.in/g3A2kwPq

Every year Nuffield Health publish the Healthier Nation Index (HNI) to provide a deeper understanding of the nation’s health. Learn more about what this means for you and how our findings around movement and barriers to fitness can help improve your overall health and wellbeing. Nuffield Health have found that nearly 3 in 4 of us are still not reaching the NHS’s recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. We’re calling on the incoming Government to launch a National Movement Strategy that harnesses the role physical activity can play in improving the nation's health. We believe those in power should support people living with long term health conditions by implementing a comprehensive strategy that has movement at its core. International Men's Health Week! Talking about health shouldn't be taboo; it should be empowering! When people share their struggles and triumphs, they inspire others to do the same, creating a supportive community. By being vulnerable and discussing health—whether it's physical, mental, or emotional—you can break down barriers and change the narrative around men's health. • In the UK, men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. It's crucial to talk about mental health and seek support when needed. • Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men in the UK. Regular check-ups and a healthy lifestyle can make a huge difference. • Men are less likely than women to visit their GP for regular check-ups. Early detection can save lives! Celebrate International Men's Health Week by encouraging the men in your life to prioritise their health, seek support, and be open about their journey. Your vulnerability can inspire others to take that first step toward a healthier life. Let's promote a culture where talking about health is a strength, not a weakness. 💪🩺 #MensHealthWeek #HealthMatters #BreakTheSilence #SupportEachOther 📷 https://lnkd.in/e-YBHCEk Image: A banner with "2024 International Men's Health Week" in bold with #MensHealthWeek written underneath. Did you know? 🤔 🔬 Heart Disease is the leading cause of death among women in Australia. Yet, many still believe it primarily affects men. Awareness and proactive care can make all the difference! 💪 Physical Activity is a game-changer! Regular exercise can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, enhance mental health, and boost overall well-being. Just 30 minutes a day can lead to remarkable benefits. 🥗 Nutrition matters. 🌟 Did you know it's #MensHealthWeek? 🌟 The statistics on men’s health are stark: 1 in 5 men dies before the age of 65. Men are nearly twice as likely as women to die prematurely from diabetes. At any one time, 12.5% of men report having a mental health condition, and we can all agree that this is massively underreported. TOGETHER, we can change these stats. Seeing these figures and thinking of my colleagues and friends is genuinely concerning. But the purpose of this week is to highlight what men can do to look after themselves and how the rest of us can support them. Here are some excellent resources to help get physically and mentally healthy: International Men’s Health Week - https://lnkd.in/ecgyBQ52 Mates In Mind - https://lnkd.in/epR3YHuY The Men’s Health Forum: DIY Man MOT - https://lnkd.in/exep5me5 Let’s embrace Men’s Health Week 2024 as a time to raise awareness, foster open conversations, and empower men to take control of their physical and mental well-being. Men's Health Week gives everyone an opportunity to encourage men and boys to take better care of their health and to seek help or treatment at an early stage. As per World Health Organization (WHO) report, the average male life expectancy is 69.1 years, while the average female life expectancy is 73.8 years. Men are less likely to recognise the warning signs of diseases like cancer than women. In addition, older men are more prone to experience the detrimental consequences of social isolation on their mental health, resulting in decreased quality of life. Men’s Health Week is not just a campaign, it’s a call to action for all men to take their health seriously. This week, take the time to know your numbers and make informed decisions about your health. Let’s ensure that men’s health truly counts this year! Happy International Men's Health Week 2024!! #men #health #mentalhealth #career
