Community Servings is pleased to be a partner in #MakeHungerHistory, an ambitious statewide initiative to end hunger in Massachusetts led by a coalition of advocates, policymakers, businesses, service providers, and individuals with lived experiences of hunger. Together, we aim to inform policy, challenge stigmas, and build a grassroots movement to change a system that leaves too many neighbors without the resources they need to access healthy, nutritious foods for themselves and their families. Start finding hunger people on road side's. You will find 100s of people: Few hungry mentally retired people, Few homeless people, Few hungry travelers, Few in the huts, Few children's.. Where we live, work, and play can have a huge effect on our health. Here in North County, we're fortunate to have plenty of access to nature and favorable weather, allowing us to be active outdoors all year round. Plus, many of our SDNEDC investors (including Solutions for Change, San Diego Food Bank, San Diego Water Authority, and Olivenhain Municipal Water District) are dedicated to maintaining healthy, clean, and safe neighborhoods where residents have access to nutritious food and clean water regardless of income level. Solutions for Change is on a mission to address the root causes of homelessness, transforming lives and restoring lives through community-focused solutions. Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank (including North County Food Bank in Vista) is the largest hunger-relief organization in the county, distributing 44 million pounds of food last year and serving an average of 400,000 people per month. Their efforts are vital in combatting nutrition insecurity, which affects 1 in 4 San Diegans, including 214,000 children. The San Diego County Water Authority and Olivenhain Municipal Water Dst prioritize the delivery of safe water to our communities. With rigorous water quality monitoring and testing, providing high-quality, safe water to residents 24/7. In response to food insecurity in the Woodhill community during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon Stone and former FCPS colleagues created the Woodhill International Market. The initiative offers bi-weekly grocery "shares", providing fresh produce on a sliding scale from $15 to $40. Families pay what they can afford, ensuring access to nutritious food regardless of financial situation. The program helps ease the burden of food costs while supporting community wellness.
