Recently, I went to Home Depot looking for parts for a pressure washer and a hose adapter. I had to speak with nearly five associates, none of whom could help me find what I needed. Four of them seemed unsure and mentioned that the store didn't have a lot of stock. One associate understood my request but made it more complicated, ultimately telling me it wouldn't work. I was ready to give up and leave when I finally found the part I needed, and it worked perfectly. I believe companies should invest in their employees by training them thoroughly in their specialties. Instead of just hiring staff to stock shelves, give them opportunities to become knowledgeable experts. For instance, if you run a shoe store, all your employees should know about the shoes you sell. #homedepot #2cents

Genuinely curious. I can understand why not to put someone's full address on a resume (safety/privacy reasons?). What I don't understand is why some people don't even include city and state (e.g. Middletown, New Jersey) on their resume? If you're applying for a merchandising position that requires some days on site, the recruiter will be looking for where you live. By not including that, they will need to reach out and ask you, or skip the extra step and pass onto other resumes that provided the information upfront. Awesome opportunity IF you have a Bachelor's degree. There are hundreds and possibly thousands of greatly qualified and motivated candidates out here in the wild that will shy away from applying due to not having one. The successful retail world is often owned and run by people who have built a portfolio of success with no education, just experience. The MoCo may overlook the requirement for a properly experienced candidate lacking a Bachelor's degree but I believe they are limiting their applicant pool by marketing that requirement so broadly. Sadly, there are many companies and fields all over the world doing the same. Likely with great intentions and purposes. It's just an outdated hiring point of view, IMO. My advice? If you've got the experience and the track record to show for it and you want a career like this...APPLY! You may get overlooked, you may get an opportunity that gets your foot in the door, or you may even score your dream job. You'll never get the win if you don't get yourself on the track. 🖤⚡️⚡️

If your downtown has vacancies, no foot traffic, and lots of struggling businesses, why would a big national chain, like H&M, want to locate there? I know our old model says go for the big anchor, but they're just not going to consider it until you have your own house in order. The benefit of getting your own house in order is exponential! And then if you still want the H&M, go for it. Still need to be convinced?
