🌍Can dialogue help end hunger and malnutrition? In their insightful article, Dr. AGNES KALIBATA and Sir David Nabarro delve into the crucial role of multi-stakeholder dialogues in reshaping global food systems. Building on experiences of #UNFSS 2021, they argue that fostering collaboration among governments, NGOs, the private sector, and local communities is essential to addressing the prevailing complex challenges of #hunger and #malnutrition. At The Hunger Project, we're dedicated to empowering communities and creating sustainable solutions to end world hunger. Ensuring that mothers have access to information and nutritious foods for themselves and their babies is the most effective way to break the cycle of malnutrition. Here's how we make a difference: 1. Nutrition Education: We educate thousands of women on maternal and childhood health through training workshops led by healthcare professionals. These workshops emphasise the importance of nutrition for both mothers and children, as well as pre and postnatal care. 2. Monitoring Maternal and Childhood Health: Our trained healthcare workers and community volunteers support mothers in monitoring their children's health and weight, ensuring early detection of any health issues and timely intervention. 3. Sustainable Farming Practices: We provide training on sustainable farming techniques, enabling our partners to improve crop yields while diversifying crops and creating nutritious diets for entire communities. Together, these efforts empower communities to build healthier futures and break the cycle of hunger and malnutrition. Join us in our mission to create a world where everyone has access to nutritious food and healthcare. Happy World Milk Day! Since 2001, the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) declared June 1st as World Milk Day, with the objective to support the dairy sector, encouraging consumption and recognizing its role in combating malnutrition, especially in vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly, and promoting sustainable food systems. This day serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance and the benefits of milk and dairy products for individuals, communities, and the planet. Additionally, the dairy industry plays a vital economic role globally, providing livelihoods for millions of people involved in milk production, processing, and distribution. In most developing countries, milk is produced by smallholders, and milk production contributes to household livelihoods, food security and nutrition. Milk provides relatively quick returns for small-scale producers and is an important source of cash income. By celebrating World Milk Day, we not only recognize the nutritional benefits of milk but also appreciate the efforts of farmers, dairy workers, veterinarians, and organizations working towards sustainable and responsible milk production. #worldmilkday #animalhealth #supportdairy

Inequalities in food security exists in all regions of the world, both among and within countries. Often, multiple discriminations and disadvantages amplify marginalization, thus leading to hunger and all forms of malnutrition. Addressing these inequalities and 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 is at the center of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐂𝐅𝐒) is currently developing policy recommendations on “Reducing Inequalities for Food Security and Nutrition” that will hopefully have a meaningful impact on these issues. Switzerland believes that strengthening agency - the capacity of individuals to make their own informed decisions about what food they eat, how food is produced, processed and distributed, and their representation and involvement in decision making - is key to reducing inequalities. #inequality #sustainabledevelopment #righttofood

🌏 Last week, we participated in Cambodia’s National Nutrition Day event, hosted by the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) in Phnom Penh, focusing on the theme Nutrition for Growth. The event brought together ministries, development partners, civil society, academia, and representatives from both the public and private sectors to foster discussions and collaborations aimed at enhancing nutrition and promoting sustainable development. 💡 Highlights of the event: 1️⃣ Discussions on updating the Food System Roadmap for Sustainable Development in Cambodia 2030. 2️⃣ The launch of the joint SDG fund project, “Transforming Cambodia’s food systems to become more sustainable, inclusive and resilient”, led by FAO, the World Food Programme and UNICEF. 3️⃣ A focus on innovation, community empowerment and education for food and nutrition security. 🙌 Cambodia shared the progress made in improving nutrition and discussed the remaining challenges, such as rising obesity rates and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), driven by high consumption of energy-dense, high-fat, and sugary foods, coupled with low fruit and vegetable intake. 🤝 The Zero Hunger Coalition presented the evidence developed to support this ambitious roadmap undertaken by the government to transform their food systems and stressed the importance of multi-sectoral and synergistic approaches involving agriculture, health, climate, education, social protection. The Coalition will continue to support the country, promoting an inclusive process and pursuing ambitious goals. #NutritionForGrowth #FoodSystemTransformation Silo Sok Rebekah Bell Jost Kadel Royal Government of Cambodia រាជរដ្ឋាភិបាលកម្ពុជា / Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) Nhean Sophea Sanne Sigh GIZ Cambodia UNICEF Cambodia Louise Scholtz

“The decline in children’s health shown clearly in this report is a shocking and deeply sad result of the failures of the food system in the UK.” This is why we're calling for ‘good food’ to be central to party manifestos. We're asking for: 🎯 A national food strategy 🍬 Action on ultra-processed food ♻️ More sustainable consumption ✅ Public procurement to be used for good 🎓 Schools to be part of the solution https://lnkd.in/eCSkKduc

👶🏽🌟 The future generation deserves our utmost focus when tackling malnutrition and strengthening food security. At Yara India and HarvestPlus Solutions, we are dedicated to improving nutrition education and ensuring that children have access to affordable, nutritious foods. Global food security can only be achieved in partnership. 🤝 The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has played an important role in connecting project partners and providing funding through the Sustainable Development Goals Partnership (SDGP). ✅ One region where these partnerships are making a difference is Madhya Pradesh, India, where many people face malnutrition and unhealthy diets. Suresh Motwani from Solidaridad Asia is part of an important partnership that aims to address this issue while helping small-scale farmers earn a higher income. Through the SDGP project, Suresh explains how this partnership gives farmers the knowledge and tools to improve their food security and livelihoods. By teaching them how to grow soybeans and prepare healthy meals, the project helps promote better diets in the community. 🍽️🥦 #foodsecurity #India
