Today is International Children’s Day and we believe that having the conversation about Organ Donation with your children is as important as any other serious topic. We discuss stranger danger, table manners, the birds and the bees... but organ donation should be right up there with these topics.  Why should we talk about organ donation and death? Contrary to being a mood killer, these conversations can literally save lives. Unlike many other 'tricky' topics, death is inevitable. Avoiding these difficult discussions leaves our kids (and ourselves) unprepared to handle death when it occurs. Families who engage in these discussions often find them to be a source of great comfort. Additionally, families who decide to donate their loved one’s organs often find it to be an extra source of consolation. Amidst tragedy and loss, knowing that other lives have been saved through organ donation provides a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark time.

Survivor Alliance is closed to the public all week. I'm supposed to be resting and taking at least today and tomorrow off.
