Compassion for the homeless This morning, I had the privilege of helping out at Truro Homeless Action Group for Veggie Friday, alongside the brilliant Nigel Unwin and Sarah Wetherill. It’s always heartening to see familiar faces and be part of something that makes a tangible difference in the community. Every morning, the team of volunteers provide a cooked breakfast to those in need - a small gesture, but one that means so much. Whilst serving today, I had the chance to hear Nigel’s inspiring vision for his CIC, Garden Share - which aims at maintaining volunteered gardens in the community and the plan going forward is to grow enough local food to help feed those in need. His determination to create sustainable change is truly inspiring. At the breakfast club today, we welcomed a mix of clients. One gentleman came in soaking wet, his sleeping bag and clothes drenched, yet he remained in good spirits. Another arrived stressed after liquids spilt in his rucksack, but found a moment of respite with us. Many came into the kitchen to personally thank us, their vulnerability and gratitude shining through. It was humbling to witness. Moments like these remind me that we must approach others with compassion, even when they’re angry or frustrated. Sometimes, their actions reflect the immense challenges they face rather than who they are. A bit of understanding, a kind word, or simply listening can make an enormous difference to someone at their lowest. For most of us, having a roof over our heads is something we take for granted. Let’s practise gratitude for what we have and reserve judgement for those who don’t. You never know the battles someone might be fighting. Umbrella of Compassion ☔️🌼😊 It's 5.30 am and I got up due to heavy rainy sound and I wonder, the people who sit comfortably in warm, dry home, but think about those who aren't as fortunate. For the homeless, rainy days bring a harsh reminder of their vulnerability and the urgent need for compassionate action. CTA <Call to Action> : -Clothing drives -Food service -Fiest aid kit -Offer a hand (local place where altogether can stay) -Raise awareness on this serious issue For most of us, rain means cozying up indoors. REFLECTION... Mostly MOTHERS & FATHERS are #unpaid... Staying #home to #raise their #children. Yes, some Mother's / Father's devote their entire #lives to #caring for their #children. My particular #case? "Broad Spectrum Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, ADD / ADHD, Grade II Brain Bleed, Micro preemie, born at 24-weeks-geststion (identical twins, one died due to an error during PDA Valve Repair. Two of my Four precious #children were born with #disabilities and will likely live with me the remainder of my life. As a Retired Medical Professional, I miss my #job, certainly making #money to make ends meet... Working is not an #option when the money made goes to "#daycare" or a "#caregiver," if one can afford those services. However, the overwhelming fact is a #Mother or #Father does not "get #paid" or #compensated for frankly the most important JOB in the World; raising a #child and we do not receive #Insurance #Benefits. That's my #perspective. #add #adhd #micropreemie #aspergerssyndrome #brainbleed #disabilities #overcome

Did you know that 150 of them can be ironed together and turned into a survival blanket for a homeless person and will help to keep their sleeping bag dry and insulated? The Iron Man Frome is doing exactly that! So we are collecting ours to help the cause and have boxes in each of our offices to collect washed packets to send.
