🎄🏡 Christmas is more than just decorations and celebrations, it’s about the moments that make a house feel like home. Whether it’s the sound of kids unwrapping gifts, the glow of lights on a cosy evening, or a shared meal with family, the holidays remind us how important our spaces are. For many in Bayside, this season is also a time to reflect: 1️⃣ Is your current home supporting the life you want to live? 2️⃣ Do you need more room for growing family traditions? 3️⃣ Or is it time to find a space that better fits the next chapter of your journey? Bayside comes alive at this time of year, with neighbours catching up, holiday gatherings in stunning backyards, and walks through streets filled with festive cheer. It’s a reminder of why so many people choose to call this community home. As we soak up the joys of the season, it’s also a chance to dream about what 2025 might bring. Whether you’re imagining a bigger space for your family, wondering what’s next for the Bayside market or simply looking for some guidance, we’re here to help you make those plans a reality. ✨ #FollettCo #ChristmasMarketTips #BaysideLiving #RealEstateInsights #BrightonProperty

With the clocks going back last weekend British Summer Time (BST) and daylight-saving time ended. Although the autumn change is often seen as the "good one" because you get an extra hour in bed (!), the days become shorter, and the nights become longer. Our thoughts turn towards the end of year festivities. However, this is the time of year when we at Parity Trust turn our thoughts to, and focus even more on those within our communities who may be alone, marginalised, and vulnerable. We want to ensure that working with our local authority partners, we can provide the financial support to enable homeowners to stay safe, secure, and particularly at this time of year, warm in their own homes, so that they can enjoy their independence and the festivities and celebrations. The genesis of Parity Trust is to provide the link between our partner local authorities and our residents. We have a mandate to provide good, positive outcomes, and to change lives for the better. We are committed to working with local authorities to help them deliver solutions, whether they are supporting residents with energy efficiency measures, adaptations or essential home improvements Keep up to date with Parity Trust by following our company page. #hampshirechamberofcommerce #newforestbusinesspartnership

Like many, I’m sure, this weekend was a whirlwind of Christmas activities, mainly involving my husband and me playing taxi drivers for the kids as they bounce from one Christmas party to another. Honestly, their social lives put ours to shame! On Saturday, we made our annual trip to pick out the Christmas tree—fitting that I later realised it was Small Business Saturday. For years, we’ve been getting our Christmas tree from the same place, never once thinking of going anywhere else. There’s nothing like the fresh scent of pine trees, twinkling lights and a bit of Michael Bublé to get us in the Christmas spirit! The team at Stoneybrook Nursery goes the extra mile and then some to create a magical experience—especially for the kids. These small, family-run businesses are true gems and brilliantly showcase that in a world where it is easy to believe all that glitters is gold, it’s important to remember that it’s not flashy marketing or promotions that build loyalty. It’s the relationships, trust, and memorable experiences that keep people coming back. So thank you, Stoneybrook Nursery! Not just for our lovely Christmas tree, but for reminding me and all our fellow small business owners, to keep offering the best experience to your customers. It’s not glamorous, sounds too simple and is often not easy to do, but it is the thing that truly matters. #SmallBusinessSaturday #SupportLocal #ChristmasTraditions #CustomerExperience

Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday. The food, no pressure for gifts, the family, the friends—or in my case, our chosen family, given how far I live away from my extended family in Canada. Anyone who knows me, knows I am constantly harping on about #community. When I first moved to Geneva years ago, my biggest fear about leaving the #humanitarian sector wasn’t the career pivot or yet another international move—it was the community. As a humanitarian abroad, you always had a community. You were far from family, so you made your own—friends who became family, strangers who became neighbours, and colleagues who became roommates (read: shared guesthouses and in camps communal shipping containers turned into bunks). Fast forward to Geneva, where it took me years to feel like I had finally built that kind of community. It’s not easy to find people who you can call on for anything. This year, I feel like I’ve finally gotten there. We hosted a Canadian Thanksgiving at our place for the 5th year in a row with the same families who have become our chosen community, and we are attending two American Thanksgiving celebrations. And here’s the link to #socialimpact: the power of community isn’t just about us personally—it’s about what we do with it. Whether in the workplace, within social movements, or in our local neighbourhoods, building and nurturing community is where real #impact starts. It’s where we find our power to drive change, to uplift others, and to transform those little moments into meaningful progress So this Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the community I’ve found, for the people who’ve supported me, and for those who remind me why we do this work in the first place. P.S. Here’s a photo of our Thanksgiving table this year—because one of my favourite things about Thanksgiving is the table decor. Not quite at Martha Stewart's level, but it’s an annual ritual that I truly love. #Community #SocialImpact #Thanksgiving #Connection

What does it mean to celebrate Christmas far from home? This is my third Christmas away from Scotland, due to living in Canada on a visa. Being far from home during the holidays can feel not quite right, but I’ve learned it’s an opportunity to create new traditions and make the season feel special in your own way. If you’re spending your first Christmas away or considering a big move, here are some tips: 1️⃣ Bring your traditions with you – Familiar recipes, decorations, or playlists can make any space feel like home. 2️⃣ Embrace where you are – Celebrate the unique traditions of your new location and make them your own. 3️⃣ Create your community – Share the season with friends through small gatherings or simple moments. 4️⃣ Make space for your feelings – It’s okay to miss home while also finding joy where you are now. And it’s the 25th of November! Never too early for a tree 🫶
