The program is proudly presented in collaboration with the Social Football Summit. The unique event will take place at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on November 19th. Having assumed managerial roles at prominent clubs like Pafos FC and Aris Thessaloniki, both the national and international stages, Dechaux distinguishes himself through a particular interest in nurturing young talents. His devoted efforts in youth developments, notably at Nottingham Forest FC Academy, underscore his unwavering commitment to shaping the future of football. K. Tarkan Batgun As the CEO of Comparisonator, Mr. Batgun brings over 20 years of analytical expertise and experience from both club and agency perspectives in the global football business. He worked as a lecturer at Istanbul's prominent Halic University's Physical Education and Sports Faculty from 2010 to 2021. Mr. Batgun's career includes roles as the Director of Scouting at Bursaspor, where he pioneered the concept of the 'Scouting Laboratory,' and as a management consultant at leading sportstech companies throughout the last 15 years. He has been actively involved in football education, having lectured at the Turkish Football Federation on Match Analysis and Scouting courses since 2010. Mr. Batgun also managed the NIKE Türkiye scouting team from 2014 to 2021. His contributions to the field have earned him recognition, including the 'Sportsman of the Year in Technology' award by 'Sports Turkey Media' in 2012, the 'Scouting Specialist of the Year Award' from 'Marka Football' in 2013, and the 'Sample Scouting Department' award at the Sportstec Innovation Conference in London in 2014. I'm not particularly interested in team sports in general, nor in sports ranking, but my wife and I were chatting about the Olympics, and she described a novel way of ranking country performance in the Olympics. See links below; the first link is a paper describing how the ranking is computed, and the second link shows the country rankings for the last several Summer Olympic games. (As the paper describes, the ranking system can also be used for the Winter games but requires some adjustments.) Without giving away the details: the basic idea is to assume an ideal world in which a country's performance in the games (number of medals it wins) depends roughly on its population, then use those underlying assumptions to assess how unlikely that country's performance was. I have been interested in bias in ML and AI in general for a while, and the proposed system interests me as a possible means of detecting, if not exactly controlling for, bias. I expect the approach doesn't map perfectly to scenarios we would want to use it for. The approach depends, for instance, on knowing how many medals can be won, and on country's populations. Some learning and search problems aren't amenable to such assumptions; They may depend, for instance, on knowing how many plans there are in a planning problem instance, a hard problem to solve, or the true number of anomalies or faults in a cyber-physical system. Still, the core ideas are interesting, at least to me. Thoughts and comments are welcome! Before IFREQ FOOTBALL, each season, the top players from various categories of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy gathered at Camp des Loges for the Testing Experience. During a few hours, the children participated in a training session under the watchful eyes of the academy's scouts. This event allowed the children to recognize their abilities and, for some, to join the academy. They realized that this method didn't allow them to select the best players, as many went unnoticed. With hundreds of players evaluated in just two hours, it was impossible to know each player's true value, making their analysis subjective. They turned to us to solve these two problems: 1. How, with 18 academies around the world (Rwanda, United States, Brazil, Antilles, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Germany), can they identify which players can join their academy without incurring high costs? 2. How to spot players suitable for these academies when many are off the scouting radar? This is where IFREQ steps in: 1. By testing their academies worldwide, we provide an objective view of their players' levels and compare them fairly for equitable selection. 2. Only 800k players are visible on scouting platforms out of the 500 million football players. Our test makes a player visible in one hour, regardless of age, weight, or position, enabling them to choose the best.
