Today is #ResearchAppreciationDay. Years of scientific research underpin effective #biostimulants. Ideas that seem interesting in the lab are tested at a wider scale in fields and/or greenhouses. Then the industry’s researchers look at how to incorporate the biostimulant solution into a formulation that will remain stable through distribution and handling. Finally, biostimulant producers must demonstrate that their products actually can deliver on the claims they make as part of conformity assessment under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation (#FPR). Since the creation of the European Standardization Committee’s Technical Committee (TC) 455 on Plant Biostimulants, EBIC has funded the TC’s secretariat and supported the development of all the standards needed for conformity assessment of plant biostimulants. Read more about our work: biostimulants.eu Read more about CEN: https://lnkd.in/e8t9Smhq

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I am thrilled to share the publication of our latest research paper titled "Dual-Activated Tamarix Gallica-Derived Carbons for Enhanced Glyphosate Adsorption: A Comparative Study of Phosphoric and Sulfuric Acid Activation" in Materials 2025. This study explores the development of sustainable activated carbons from Tamarix gallica (a resilient halophytic plant) for the effective removal of glyphosate from water. By comparing phosphoric and sulfuric acid activation methods, we uncovered unique adsorption mechanisms and optimized the material's performance for water treatment applications. This research not only contributes to addressing environmental challenges but also aligns with global efforts toward a circular economy and sustainable resource utilization. I am incredibly grateful to my co-authors Saliha Benaoune, Abdelkarim Merzougui, Narimene Bouzidi, Antonio Ruiz-Canales, Imane Akacha, and Amir Djellouli for their collaboration and dedication. Today, we would like to present one lab at Vysoká škola chemicko-technologická v Praze 🔎Laboratory of Applied Catalysis and Fine Chemicals (leader - Eliška Vyskočilová) This research group specializes in optimizing the preparation and production of fine chemicals. Thanks to their close cooperation with perfume industry that lasts more than 50 years, several compounds have been successfully integrated into our industrial partner’s production portfolio. In addition to applied research, they focus on the processing of biomass into biologically active substances and finding ways to utilize CO2 in the production of fine chemicals. Their expertise also extends to hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes, or study of the mechanism of heterogeneously catalyzed acid-base reactions particularly for the pharmaceutical and fragrance sectors. These topics are closely connected with the design and development of advanced catalysts, such as hydrotalcites and organometallic complexes. They own characterization techniques such as TPR/O/D chemisorption with the possibility of MS detection, determination of specific surface and porous meso- and microstructure of solids, determination of UV-VIS of liquid and solid samples, performing reactions under high pressure, liquid chromatography with mass detection #catalysis, #biomass, #finechemicals, #CO2 More information https://lnkd.in/eqVMePwK

Today we are out of the lab ☀️🌿☺️ We are joining our AGREA Centro Studi partners in their experimental fields for preliminary tests on the dissemination of innovative formulations. Several assessments can be conducted in these fields, including: • 💦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲: measures how well formulations disperse over the target surface, ensuring uniform and adequate coverage. • 🌱 𝐀𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: analyzes how quickly and to what extent formulations are absorbed by plants or soil, as well as how long they remain active and effective.   • 😷 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬: assesses whether formulations are toxic to plants, ensuring that they do not damage crops or adversely affect plant growth   𝑁𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑛𝑖𝑎 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑓𝑖𝑒𝑙𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑒𝑚𝑖-𝑓𝑖𝑒𝑙𝑑 𝑡𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡 𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑒𝑑 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠 in all of its projects, offering clients a complete characterization of the formulations we develop . This approach provides in-depth knowledge of the prototype, going beyond the simple basic stability testing that can be done in the laboratory.

One of my publications has been considered for the "Materials 2025 Best Paper Award" for research and review articles published in Materials in 2023. Selection criteria are based on scientific merit, citations and downloads. In this research, mucilage extracted from both flaxseed and fenugreek seed was evaluated as natural flocculants in a coagulation-flocculation process for arsenic removal. These materials offer a sustainable alternative for the controlled removal of arsenic in water and can be considered a highly viable alternative to petrochemically based synthetic flocculants.
