Composites 101: Carbon Fiber Prosthetic Legs There are more than 1 million annual limb amputations globally, one every 30 seconds. There are different reasons why amputations occur. Aging and deterioration of bones, accidents, vascular and peripheral arterial diseases, trauma, cancer, which is rare like our friend Alex has said in the video. Carbon fiber composites remain the preferred choice driven by the high demand for lower-limb prosthetics, providing strength more than traditional materials like metals and plastics while being much lighter. Lower limb prosthetics account for >70% of composite material usage. You can learn more about prosthetics and composites role in orthopaedic industry in our latest article here: https://lnkd.in/dcCCnfP5 Source: Alex1Leg (Youtube) #prosthetic #amptutation #carbonfiber #composites #healthcare #composights

Made from polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) or other biocompatible materials, it hardens quickly after injection, providing stability to fractured or weakened vertebrae. It's used to treat conditions such as osteoporotic fractures, spinal tumors, and trauma-induced fractures, helping to alleviate pain, restore spinal integrity, and improve mobility. The cement is designed for safety, ease of use, and long-term durability. TECRES S.P.A. Johnson & Johnson Flexicare, Inc. 🗣 Reminder: The final webinar of Orfit's latest Splinting Spark Series is coming up! Static Progressive Orthosis for Finger Flexion, hosted by Debby Schwartz. 🗓 Monday 9th December 🕚 11PM - 12AM (GMT) Can’t make it Monday? Join the repeated session on Tuesday! 🗓 Tuesday 10th November 🕡 6PM - 7PM (GMT) A Static Progressive Orthosis for Finger Flexion is designed to help patients regain or improve passive finger flexion by applying a low-load, prolonged stretch to the stiff joints. This orthosis is used primarily to address issues such as joint stiffness, contractures, or limited range of motion in the fingers. The orthosis applies a sustained, low-intensity stretch to the finger joints and surrounding soft tissues. This static stretch is held in place for extended periods to promote tissue remodeling and increase passive range of motion. 🔗 It's not too late to register, sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eEzBEQ_G Promedics Orthopaedic Ltd | #Splinting #SplintingWebinar #StaticFingerOrthosis

A study by Fogel et al. underscores the clinical potential of 3D-printed porous titanium cages in spinal fusion. Featuring stress-optimized body lattices and microporous endplates, these cages significantly reduce stiffness by over 16%, enhancing osseointegration and mechanical stability. This innovative design minimises the risk of subsidence and associated complications, offering improved bone ingrowth and reducing the likelihood of revision surgeries [13] Reference: G. Fogel et al., “Subsidence and fusion performance of a 3D-printed porous interbody cage with stress-optimized body lattice and microporous endplates - a comprehensive mechanical and biological analysis,” The Spine Journal, vol. 22, no. 6, pp. 1028–1037, Jun. 2022, doi: 10.1016/j.spinee.2022.01.003. #SouthernMedical #ImplantPerfection #SouthAfrican #Manufacturer #Biotechnology #spineimplants #spinesurgery #spine

#DidYouKnow: PRP treatment is offered in our Rockwall, Wylie, Forney, and Terrell offices! Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an innovative therapy that uses your natural healing cells to enhance your body’s repair process. Platelets are tiny cells that play an essential role in the formation of blood clots. They also contain growth factors that help the body’s healing process. Researchers are currently investigating the benefits of PRP for musculoskeletal conditions but have found that PRP may improve tendon conditions like tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, and jumper’s knee. It’s theorized that the high concentration of growth factors in PRP helps by speeding up the healing process. The specialists at OSD can help you decide if PRP is an appropriate treatment for your condition. Allard's SmartFAB Facility is now assembling MultiMotion contracture management orthoses saving you time in the workshop! Functionality of the MultiMotion Corrective Joint is based on the LLPS principles (Low Load Prolonged Stretch). This process of gradual, precise, and evenly applied tension stimulates the growth of the shortened tissue and increases joint mobility. Treatment of contracture can be done in either flexion or extension, based on patient needs. Recommended Range Of Application Neurological Indications: Apoplexia (CVA), Cerebral Paresis, Multiple Sclerosis, Skull and Brain Trauma, Spastic Paralysis (Hereditary), Spina Bifida, Spinal Paralysis (Spastic), Tetraparesis (Spastic). Orthopedic Indications: Ligament Rupture, Burns, Endoprosthesis Implant, Fracture, Lower Leg Amputation. Click the link in the comments to learn more.

Over 70% of the world’s population over the age of 55 suffers from osteoarthritis, a degenerative disorder that occurs when the protective cartilage cushioning the ends of bones wears down over time—causing pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. Though osteoarthritis can affect any joint in the body it commonly occurs in the hips, and the increasing prevalence of this condition is fueling the demand for Total Hip Arthroplasty. Because every patient has a unique anatomy, customized hip implant systems offer increased stability and durability, reducing the risk of complications such as dislocation, infection, and loosening. With a focus on total joint replacements including ceramic bearing components for Total Hip Arthroplasty, CoorsTek Bioceramics works in partnership with our customers to create custom femoral heads with an expanded range of sizes and design options. PFNA is particularly suitable for treating intertrochanteric fractures, which are common in the elderly, especially those with osteoporosis. Its design includes the following features: The main nail is a cannulated nail; The main nail has a 6-point abduction angle; The main nail has a tip and groove design that is as long as possible; Only one locking nail is required at the distal end; The spiral blade design has strong anti-rotation and anti-cut-out capabilities and high stability. PFNA has multiple advantages over traditional internal fixation methods, such as dynamic hip screws (DHS) and gamma nails. PFNA shows angular stability and rotational stability in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures, which is particularly important for patients with osteoporosis. PFNA also allows patients to get up and move early, and has been shown to be superior to DHS and gamma nails in biomechanical tests. #ManualOperation #PFNA #IntramedullaryNail #Orthopedicsurgery #SUNANZMDMEDICAL #ZMD
