The National Cancer Institute of the United States of America has done since 1937 (F.D. Roosevelt) a wonderful service to all American citizens and to mankind by providing not only key medical innovations and new drugs to treat cancers but also excellent and understandable medical information. NCI is the federal government's principal agency for cancer research and training. (Find information in this link about NCI’s mission, organization, history, leadership, advisory boards, and visitor information). https://lnkd.in/dMAuEwpw It has done so during several decades for all American patients - and also for the thousands of Latin American patients who have been diagnosed and treated as private patients in the United States. I first visited MD Anderson in 1984 (40 years ago) - presenting a research poster on behalf of Prof Alan Horwich (Royal Marsden Hospital in London and Sutton) on testicular cancer markers and placental alkaline phosphatase. I was very well received in the wards not only by Prof.Fletcher and Dr. Fisher , but also by many Spanish speaking patients- who had difficulty understanding English (not to say understanding their disease and treatment). I can only wish that the likely winner in the forthcoming elections candidate presidential team (D.Trump/JD Vance) truly understand and respect also in future this basic need for medical information also in Spanish - for the sake and safety of all American citizens and patients from all Latin American countries. The NCI does. Information is a very powerful tool to understand and fight cancer. And it should be affordable and understandable. https://lnkd.in/dkhb7GmG

🎉 Exciting News from the EUnetCCC Kick-Off Meeting! 🎉 I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve had the privilege of presenting our plans for Work Package 3 (WP3) – Evaluation – at the official launch of the EUnetCCC project. This ambitious initiative aims to build a sustainable network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCCs) across Europe, with the goal of improving cancer care and research in all participating countries. Together with my talented colleagues from Denmark, Malta, and Hungary, we will be leading WP3. Our focus is to develop a practical and robust evaluation framework that will not only guide the progress of this project over the next 4 years but also support the long-term growth of CCC networks. We are committed to ensuring that our evaluation efforts deliver actionable insights, foster continuous improvement, and positively impact cancer care across Europe. Our objectives in WP3 include: 📊 Creating a practical and sustainable evaluation framework. 🔍 Assessing the effectiveness of the Joint Action and CCC network. 📈 Monitoring quality and impact to ensure lasting benefits for healthcare providers and patients. 📅 Supporting other work packages with indicator development and real-time progress tracking. 📢 Ensuring our findings are widely communicated to drive further advancements. Looking forward to collaborating with all the amazing teams involved in this critical project! Together, we can make a real difference in the future of cancer care. #EUnetCCC #CancerCare #Evaluation #Collaboration #HealthcareInnovation #CancerResearch Charlotte Nyborg Kristensen Brit Sandgren Sygehus Lillebælt Det Syddanske EU-Kontor Region Syddanmark Rigshospitalet

We are stronger together. Celebrating 75 years of collaboration the Nordic Cancer Union can summarize that the work has been fruitful. Especially in jointly financing research over the country borders but also for example in advocacy work. "Each of the Nordic countries is small, but together we make up 27 million people. We share the same strengths and possibilities. The Nordic countries are all welfare states with a similar view on how healthcare should be evenly distributed across the population. Our cancer registers have high quality, and the countries are accustomed to working with policy issues. But there are also, in all of the countries, strained healthcare systems and problems with unevenly distributed health care," said Ulrica Årehed Kågström, Secretary-General for the Swedish Cancer Society, at the celebration. Looking forward, there is more work to be done and representatives for the Nordic Cancer Union can see potential for strong collaboration in many areas. For example, making the region attractive for more clinical trials, working together for faster implementation of new medicines, networking between hospitals and advocacy work in prevention of cancer. Thanks to Durita Tausen, Heidi Smollerup, Juha Pekka Turunen, Halla Thorvaldsdottir, Ole Alexander Opdalshei, Ulrika Årehed Kågström and Ulrica Sundholm for a very inspiring day! #tillsammansmotcancer

Recently, Megan Webber and Helene Dameris of KnowTheGlow (KTG) met with key leaders from Childhood Cancer International (CCI), after an introduction by Dr. Marcela Zubieta. The meeting brought together Rodney Wong from Malaysia, President of CCI, and Carl Queiros from South Africa, Executive Director of CCI, to explore potential collaborations between the two organizations. Rodney expressed optimism about the potential collaboration, envisioning KTG benefiting from CCI’s global network, sharing best practices, and joining working groups. They explored the idea of creating educational materials tailored to African audiences and addressing the critical challenge of guiding families to proper care pathways.
