As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the innovation efforts at Hyper Island alongside our international partners. 🌍✨ This year, we organized two remarkable Creative Sprints in Cannes and Karlskrona, each bringing together over 40 participants from the Creative and Technology industries. Imagine this: people who have never met before, coming from 10+ different countries and representing diverse sectors, meet in the same space. With guidance and facilitation by Hyper Island and Talent Garden, they dive deep into a creative process. By the end, they achieve tangible results that inspire and drive innovation. 💡🤝 🌟 What happens in a Creative Sprint? Participants upskill their soft skills such as collaboration, understanding group dynamics, leadership, communication, and presentation. Some accelerate their existing businesses, while others discover new ideas. Did we say that T.A.B. stands for Technology, Art, and Business? Bringing together Art and Tech to create new Business opportunities! 🎨💻 T.A.B - Innovation Hubs for Tech, Art and Business Some outcomes from these events include: 🎶 The lead singer of the Lithuanian band The Roop collaborating with Swedish composers to create a new song while also testing various AI tools to learn what they are capable of. 🎮 A children’s book author developing concepts to transform her characters into video game heroes. 🖼️ A team planning an Augmented Reality exhibition for next summer in Karlskrona, aiming to foster citizen dialogue. Techtalia, an annual conference held in different Italian cities, serves as a platform for ideas at the intersection of culture, business, and technology. It features insightful talks and panels on topics ranging from AI’s impact on the coffee industry to creating immersive experiences in fashion and retail. The 2024 event, set against Florence’s stunning cultural backdrop, offered abundant iconic visual and cultural inspiration for the conference’s design, created by Turin-based leading data-visualisation studio (and guest speakers) Algo.tv. The location was particularly inspiring, being just 50 steps from the ‘Duomo’ – Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore – renowned for its octagonal dome by Filippo Brunelleschi (Cupola del Brunelleschi). Nearby stands the Baptistery of Saint John, which became the main source of inspiration. Keep reading → t-bi.link/techtalia

For contacts in Singapore, here’s an invitation to attend one of my favourite speaking events, being held at The Projector, the independent cinema located at Golden Mile Tower on Beach Road. Even better (or worse) I’ll be one of the nine people on stage, taking turns to deliver a rapid-fire talk on a wide range of topics. PechaKucha is a global speaker series with a unique format. Each speaker is required to have 20 image-based slides. Each slide is on the screen for 20 seconds and is set to automatically rotate. So the speaker needs to keep the story moving because the presentation only lasts 400 seconds — six minutes and forty seconds. It’s like TEDx on steroids. If you’re interested, I highly recommend securing your seats today. It’s a small venue and it will be a fun evening. Speaker lineup for PechaKucha Singapore: Alvin Tan Alyssa Chua Arthur Lim Harriet Wakelam Hester Spiegel Jay Cheong Joe Chung Mei Yee Chan Peter Williams Event details: PechaKucha Singapore Tickets: https://lnkd.in/gh8j8UGX Date: Wednesday June 19th Time: Doors open 7:00pm Venue: The Projector, Golden Mile Tower More information: Website: https://lnkd.in/g4t_MsSk Instagram: https://lnkd.in/gR3HxJwi Facebook: https://lnkd.in/gsxtEcPz Ps. The PechaKucha 20x20 format originated at an architecture firm in Tokyo, as an alternative to boring PowerPoint presentations. #pechakucha #20x20 #theprojector

🗣️ Interview with Anastasios - Tasos Tzikas, President of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) Interview Highlights: 📈 Strategic Role of #TIF: Established in 1926, TIF is Greece’s primary exhibition organization. Its annual events foster business collaboration across the Balkans and Southeastern Europe, attracting over 1,500 companies. With over 40 exhibitions and 250 events yearly, it positions Thessaloniki as a business and innovation hub. 🚧 Venue Redevelopment: A major redevelopment of the TIF venue is planned, transforming it into one of Europe’s most sustainable #exhibition centers. Featuring 60% green space, the 100,000 sqm project will include pavilions, a business center, and a hotel, with construction starting in 2026 and completion expected in five years. 🌍 Upcoming Events: the #BEYOND technology event in 2025. BEYOND aims to establish Thessaloniki as a regional leader in tech innovation, inspired by events like Barcelona’s MWC. 🌱 Embracing Digital Innovation: TIF is pushing digitalization through the BEYOND fair, which focuses on positioning Thessaloniki as a tech hub in Southeastern Europe. This initiative builds on the city's growing tech ecosystem and international collaborations. 💼 Global Connections: TIF has strong ties with international partners, especially the U.S. Past delegations to California have resulted in successful B2B meetings. Plans to feature San Francisco as an honored city at a future event aim to strengthen connections with Silicon Valley. 🏗️ Challenges & Future Outlook: The biggest challenge is the redevelopment of the TIF venue, vital for maintaining competitiveness. By embracing sustainability and modern technology, TIF aims to lead in international exhibitions, while expanding its offerings with thematic parks and sectorial exhibitions. 🎉 Thematic Park Success: One of TIF's notable successes was the Museum of Chocolate, which drew significant attention. TIF continues to innovate with exhibitions focused on Greek history and thematic parks like dinosaurs, enhancing cultural and business appeal. 💬 Message to Investors: #Thessaloniki is an increasingly attractive destination for business and investment. The city’s redevelopment, strategic location, and thriving tech ecosystem present promising opportunities for investors and partners looking to capitalize on its growing potential.

Over the next decade, temporary exhibitions and pop-up shows are likely to undergo several material changes that enhance accessibility and community engagement: Digital Integration: Augmented and virtual reality will offer interactive experiences, while AI will provide personalised recommendations, creating a richer and more inclusive environment for diverse audiences. Community-Centric Programming: Future exhibitions will prioritise local voices and narratives, involving community members in the curation process. This co-creation fosters a sense of ownership and relevance, making exhibitions more resonant. Mobile Exhibitions: Traveling pop-up shows will become more common, bringing art and culture directly to underserved areas. Mobile exhibitions can engage audiences who may not have access to traditional venues, enhancing inclusivity. Multi-Disciplinary Approaches: Collaborations between artists, educators, and local organisations will blur the lines between art, education, and social activism, creating exhibitions that serve multiple purposes and engage diverse audiences. Hybrid Experiences: As online engagement becomes more integral, hybrid models will thrive, allowing for remote participation in discussions, workshops, and tours alongside in-person experiences. Social Justice Themes: Exhibitions will increasingly address pressing social issues, using art as a platform for dialogue and action. This focus can foster community engagement and education, reinforcing the social compact by addressing collective challenges. Overall, the future of temporary exhibitions and pop-up shows will be characterised by a commitment to accessibility, community involvement, and a dynamic approach to social engagement, ensuring their relevance and value in society. #archetype #temporaryexhibition #fururetrends #community #multidisciplinary Photo credit: Singapore Discovery Centre (Special Exhibition: Archetype SG – Sharing Perspectives, Building a Future Together. This exhibition examined the transformative journey of Singapore, juxtaposing past achievements with the pressing need for future innovations. It invited both intellectual and emotional engagement, prompting Singaporeans to reflect on their aspirations for the future. )
