How acoustic materials interact with sound? Sound dispersion scatters sound waves by reducing their intensity and preventing the formation of strong reflections. It could be useful to create diffusion in rooms, which can help reduce echo or flutter echo effects. Sound reflection, on the other hand, involves bouncing sound waves off surfaces and can be controlled to either enhance or detract from the acoustics of a space, depending on the desired effect. However, excessive sound reflection can also lead to problems like echo and excessive reverberation, which may not be desirable in all environments. #acoustics #sounddesign #acousticsolutions

Acoustics are an important factor in our everyday life, even when we do not notice them. We have different needs for acoustics depending on what function the room has. Therefore, it is important, that the acoustics are suitable to the room’s function and use. Let us take a closer look at what acoustics are, their importance, and how we can create suitable and good acoustics 👇 #acoustics #acousticsolutions #indoorclimate

ACROSS ACOUSTICS In our newest episode, Samuel Verburg (DTU Electro) and Kenji Ishikawa (NTT) discuss the past, present, and future of the field of acousto-optics, where light is used to visualize and measure sound: https://lnkd.in/g-thyAm2 #acoustics (Soundbite transcript: "So acousto-optics is a general term that we use to describe the different ways in which acoustic waves and lights interact. So imagine that you have a transparent medium, for example, could be air or water. And so also imagine that we shine a beam of light, we normally use a laser, so that this beam of light travels through the medium. Now, what acousto-optics describes is the different ways in which the propagation of this light beam is going to be affected when there is an acoustic wave present in the medium. In the case of air, for example, that could be the acoustic pressure generated by a loudspeaker.")

How sound interacts with different surfaces? Check out this experiment where I was to visualize the sound reflections off rocks on the beach. I positioned a speaker generating white noise toward the uneven surface of the rock and visualized the reflections with my device. One of my favorite capabilities of acoustic cameras is their ability to make sound reflections visible, turning abstract concepts into real visual experiences. The camera captures the sound waves as they bounce off at various angles, providing real-time visualization of sound behavior. By observing these reflections, we can gain a deeper understanding of how sound behaves in different scenarios. #postsbydaniel #sounddesign #acoustics #scienceexperiments
