By deploying offshore wind projects, New Jersey aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, decrease air pollution, and stem environmental degradation associated with traditional energy sources. Offshore wind is a clean and renewable energy resource - period. This solicitation aligns with Governor Phil Murphy's executive order to increase the state's offshore wind targets, demonstrating climate leadership and commitment to decarbonization. It is another great example of how New Jersey is a climate leader in its approach to the energy transition and fostering a sustainable future. #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy

California's ambitious goal of deploying 25 GW by 2045 makes it the center of the #US West Coast floating offshore wind opportunity. With very deep water just a short distance offshore, developing a floating offshore wind supply chain that is localized within #California is an essential next step. The priority of developing a local supply chain is further underscored by currently existing gaps in ports, infrastructure, vessels, and skilled labor. Establishing and expanding the full value chain from the ground up is both a challenge and a unique opportunity for the industry. Join the conversation with Tim Fischer, Ramboll's Global Executive Director for Wind, at the Pacific Offshore Wind Summit hosted by Offshore Wind California. Dive into the intricacies of establishing a scalable supply chain and the advanced technology necessary for California's pioneering offshore wind projects. 📅 Panel Discussion: "Developing a Scalable West Coast Offshore Wind Supply Chain & Advancing Technology for California's Offshore Wind Deployment" 🕘 May 15, 9:00-9:45 AM Interested in further dialogue? Connect with Tim Fischer or Brandon W. Burke to arrange a meeting at the summit. Together, let’s close the gap in California’s offshore wind supply chain and propel U.S. floating offshore wind deployment forward. 🌊💨🌱 #DecarbonizingForNetZero #ThePartnerForSustainableChange #OffshoreWindEnergy #FloatingOffshoreWind

Green light for SouthCoast Wind offshore New England Jan. 2, 2025 The outgoing US administration has approved the SouthCoast Wind Project offshore Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The outgoing US administration has approved the SouthCoast Wind Project offshore Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which is set to generate up to 2.4 GW of offshore wind power for local users, according to a Dec. 20 BOEM announcement. The 127,388-acre project area is about 26 nautical miles (nm) south of Martha’s Vineyard and 20 nm south of Nantucket, Mass. It will involve the construction of up to 141 wind turbine generators and up to five offshore substation platforms at a maximum of 143 positions. Up to eight offshore export cables could make landfall in Brayton Point or Falmouth, Mass. The scaled-back version of the original proposal removes up to six wind turbine positions in the northeastern part of the lease area to lessen impacts on wildlife, notably adjacent to Nantucket Shoals.

Persistence is a valued business quality, but offshore wind developers are making fools of themselves with repeated project cancellations and broken contracts. State governments and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management are also getting a bad rap for having the rug pulled on their pet projects. About 60 percent of the contracts signed by U.S. offshore wind developers have been canceled since the start of last year. How many eggs to the face is this industry willing to take? Just pull the plug already. Offshore wind is environmentally, economically, and socially unacceptable. Move on. #offshorewind #climatechange #atlanticshores #atlanticshoresoffshorewind #njbpu #windenergy https://lnkd.in/ecy4_Dvn

A step forward for Lion Link, a 'multi-purpose interconnector' or 'offshore hybrid asset'. It links the UK with the Netherlands AND a wind farm. We need to see more of this to reduce infrastructure. This should happen with Tarchon (an interconnector proposed between Germany and the UK). It should connect with wind farms Five Estuaries and North Falls so that there is only ONE landing cable/converter station/substation, and it should make landfall at a brownfield site nearer to London. Instead, what is actually proposed is THREE separate cable landings in Essex and three substations/converter station a very long way inland in rural Essex. Huge landscape and habitat impact and additional cost from this approach and miles from demand centres. We must move to offshore integration and away from the piecemeal/radial approach as soon as possible. 🚁🌊⛴️Spotlighting Offshore Wind Connecticut based businesses in collaboration with a Rhode Island based business at Bridgeport Boatworks! We are excited to share this insightful article from CT Examiner highlighting our recent first in the nation OSW tour of MidOcean Wind LLC WINDEA Offshore CTV and live HeliService USA personnel and cargo lift demonstration at Bridgeport Boatworks! Our event showcased the capabilities of local companies in the offshore wind energy sector. As Kristin Urbach, our Executive Director, pointed out, "Bridgeport is Connecticut’s largest and most underutilized port." The collaboration with Bridgeport Boatworks marks a pivotal step in revitalizing our harbor for offshore wind operations. The recent demonstration featured the WINDEA Offshore Intrepid vessel and the HeliService USA AW 169 helicopter, illustrating the innovative technologies and services that can thrive in our state. With Bridgeport Boatworks considering the addition of a new facility dedicated to offshore wind support, we are on the cusp of significant growth. The projected $20 million investment could create up to 100 jobs, further solidifying Connecticut's commitment to clean energy and economic development. Connecticut may not have formally announced procurement awards yet, but our businesses are actively engaged in the offshore wind sector. As Bradley Neuberth from MidOcean Wind said, “Connecticut’s right in the middle of this offshore wind revolution.” Read the full article for more details.
