Mathilde Forslund, Transform Health's Executive Director, participated at an event hosted by the WHO Foundation, "Digital Innovation in Global Health: Pathways for Private Sector Engagement", which discussed ways for private sector organisations to explore meaningful collaboration opportunities aimed at transforming global health through digital innovation. Mathilde emphasised the need for a symbiotic relationship between the government and the private sector, further highlighting how a legislative, regulatory, and financial environment can create a predictable business environment and the incentive structure for private sector engagement towards digital health transformation. She encouraged greater collaboration between private sector stakeholders and Transform Health, whose ability to convene multi-stakeholder platforms that support governments in identifying and address barriers to building an enabling environment can help create the right environment for business investment. Finally, in light of the adoption of the #GlobalDigitalCompact during #UNGA79, she mentioned key areas where the private sector can support governments and innovators to make the more effective tools and solutions: 1️⃣ Building the necessary digital health infrastructure 2️⃣ Empowering governments and local innovators with the tools and skills they need 3️⃣ Facilitating research and better health outcomes globally Learn more about Transform Health; collaborate with us to achieve #healthforall in the digital age! 🔗https://lnkd.in/esaRdCWN #DigitalHealth #UHC #UniversalHealthCoverage

Thank you to Impact CEE for inviting me to present the opportunity of digital ecosystems for the future of healthcare at #ImpactBucharest. It was a great opportunity to share the stage with thought leaders from across industries discussing the impact of digital technologies. Our daily lives are rapidly moving from paper to digital, and healthcare is following this trend. However, like our healthcare systems, digital health data is often fragmented, with isolated IT systems that don’t communicate well with one another. To improve healthcare quality, we need a connected digital health ecosystem. This can benefit society in several ways: First of all, with just a tap of a button on their phone, each patient could experience more personalized and better quality care, linking them directly to the right healthcare provider or enabling early identification of individual health risks. Equally important, this increased digital connectivity will make the healthcare system more efficient. From risk based screening, early detection of diseases and treatment monitoring, we could save time and financial resources in almost every segment of the system. My third point is that breakthroughs in disease prevention, diagnostics and treatment rely on actual health information, translated as data. By utilizing this population health data research can advance rapidly and drive faster, more successful innovations. It is up to every country to decide the role they want to play in this transformation. Protecting personal data and safeguarding its ethical use is not negotiable. Yet a race is on for governments across the world to establish a working system for digital health data. Those that will come up as winners will have healthier populations, more efficient healthcare systems, and stronger economic growth by attracting more investment in research. @Roche we are ready to join these efforts and we have shown in many partnerships that changes can be translated in solutions with immidiate benefits for patients, healthcare system and the society. #DigitalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #FutureOfHealthcare #ImpactBucharest #Europeanhealthdataspace

Collaboration should have no borders. This week I had the pleasure to join an inspiring idea exchange organised by Denmark in the UK to connect with digital health stakeholders from the UK and Denmark 🇩🇰🇬🇧 Some reflections: 🏆Healthcare culture is key to adopting innovation. Staff can be your biggest champion if you understand this. 🧩Impact stems from how we support existing value drivers and complement existing workflows. We won't improve processes if we don't fully understand them. 🌐 The future of digital health is platforms and integration. There's no appetite to maintain fragmented digital ecosystems, so *in my view* the days of non-integrated point solutions are very very limited... 🧾 More than ever we need (and expect) pragmatic, robust evidence. Music to my academic ears, and some great examples were showcased by Charles Lowe, Ana Luísa Neves, Nanna Iversen and Ylva Pisters Particularly struck by how, across geographies, we are all grappling with similar challenges and barriers. Thanks to Joakim Steen Barron-Mikkelsen and fellow organisers, and looking forward to the resulting collaborations! #DigitalHealth #Innovation #MedTech

"Health workers in the Health Innovation Hub Ireland spend half their time delivering care and the other half working with start-ups and health tech companies: a clear example of an ecosystem approach." Great to see Health Innovation Hub Ireland cited by Dr Hans Kluge, World Health Organization Regional Director for Europe as being an example of a holistic ecosystem that drives innovation in health. Just last month, Dr Tanya Mulcahy PhD, Dr Michael Twomey PhD. and Jane O'Flynn presented at the WHO Regional Office for Europe meeting “Building a Public Health Innovation Ecosystem” in Copenhagen. HIHI were identified as a model of how to innovate in healthcare in Dr Hans Kluge's closing address at the meeting. Read more: https://bit.ly/3vFqIqB #UCCInnovates

Wrapping up the Global Digital Health Network Forum in Nairobi, Kenya-- A week of inspiring conversations, tough questions, and invaluable lessons. It’s clear: progress comes through collaboration, shared learning, and meeting people where they are. This week was a powerful reminder of the balance needed between innovation and practicality in digital healthcare. A few insights from our team: 🛡️Cost-effective safety monitoring is a concern: most are exploring use cases for LLMs, few feel ready to make bold bets due to safety concerns without clarity on how to monitor cost effectively. ↔️Interoperability is essential: A consistent theme at the conference and during a field visit with CHPs here underscored the risk when referring between care levels. Systems that communicate effectively are not just priorities—they’re necessities. 🎯Meet people where they are: People are genuinely excited about AI, but discussions were grounded in reality - infrastructure, connectivity, safety monitoring, high cost of commercial service use-- to name a few. Collective action and investment need to focus on these barriers, but it shouldn't stop us from identifying needs, co-designing bold solutions, and starting where it's feasible. Grateful for the inspiring leaders and partners who made this week unforgettable. Huge thank you to Global Digital Health Network TechChange, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Patrick J.
