💸 How would you spend $91 billion for conservation?! 💸 In a sector dominated by charities, the majority of conservation projects are funded by donors. ‼️ Our figures at Conservation Careers suggest that a whopping 88% of professional conservationists are reliant on donor funding for their work. But how much funding is available for nature? 2020 figures from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimated the global funding pot to be between USD 78-91 billion per year. In 2021, nine philanthropic foundations made the largest ever donation to nature conservation, pledging $5 billion to help protect 30% of land and sea. That’s a lot of money, and it’s likely to grow each year as biodiversity conservation keeps becoming more important for people, governments and companies across the globe. What if you had the skills to secure some of these funds, and turn your ideas, dreams and projects into reality? The more skilled you are as a fundraiser, the more money you’ll secure, and the more conservation you’ll get done. But few professional and aspiring conservationists have any formal training in fundraising. That’s why we’ve built our online training, Fundraising for Conservation Projects, led by multi-award-winning conservationist Dr Kate Evans. We’re offering you discounted access until Friday 23rd August at 11:59 PM (UK time). Turn your conservation project ideas into reality with fundraising skills! 💡 ✨ https://buff.ly/3YrT5EA #ConservationCareers #ConservationJobs #Fundraising4Conservation

🌿 Rangeland regeneration in the Mayanat Community Conservancy demonstration plot, Laikipia, Kenya, has been gaining momentum in recent months. Stakeholders, partners, and donors are eager to witness the positive impact this project is having on both the community and the environment. The Lion Recovery Fund—one of our generous donors—visited the plot and got a glimpse of the regeneration techniques being used. Key highlights include: 🌾 The demo plot now serves as a resource centre for learning about rangeland regeneration and a seed bank for community-harvested grass seed. 🐄 Enhanced supply of pasture and improved grazing plans, benefiting 1,000 cattle from the surrounding community. 💧 Restored soil hydraulic conduction has revived a long-dormant stream, providing water for livestock. 🌱 Enhanced biodiversity, with many tree species, insects, and small animals now thriving in the area. The visit also showcased a water tank donated by Lion Landscapes to boost water storage on the plot, ensuring continued success for the project. #RangelandRegeneration #LionLandscapes #CommunityConservation #MayanatConservancy #LionRecoveryFund #SustainableFuture #LaikipiaKenya

The primary purpose of the Te Mamaku Native Corridor Project is to create a link from the Moutere Inlet to the Waimea Estuary with a native corridor for biodiversity, migrating birds and insects. This, in turn, will enhance the experience of the Dicker Ridge walking and cycling track. As part of the Tasman Area Community Association, the Te Mamaku team seeks further financial support for this ambitious project on the eastern side of SH60 between Tasman and Māpua. Planting began in 2022 with the success of 14,000 trees thriving in the first 3.4 hectares. A further 3.8 hectares have recently been cleared of pest trees and plants, ready for planting another 16,000 trees. Major sponsors have been Lottery Environment and Heritage, Rātā Foundation, Trees That Count, Pub Charity, NZMCA and Nelson Building Society, plus grants from Tasman District Council and Network Tasman. Private donations, assistance from contractors, plus hundreds of hours of passion and energy from 90 local volunteers have contributed to the success of the project. Wide praise for enhancing local biodiversity has come from Department of Conservation, Forest and Bird, Restoring the Moutere (Tasman Environment Trust), Landcare Trust and Ngāti Rārua. This evolving prominence in Tasman District has resulted in the sponsorship of a further 6,400 trees as part of New Zealand’s gift to celebrate King Charles III Coronation. Current contributions mean a total of 9,300 trees will be planted in 2024. With a target of $20,000 this year, whatever you can contribute will help. Rest is a crucial part of life and if productivity must be maintained, rest must be included in our schedule. Some of our feathered friends are losing their place of rest to anthropogenic activities. Let’s Spotlight on the Majestic Secretarybird one of endangered species in Africa. In the sun-drenched savannas of Africa, a striking figure strides across the grasslands, its quirky quills and powerful physique making it a sight to behold. But despite its impressive appearance, the Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius) is facing a silent crisis, its numbers dwindling at an alarming rate. Found in the grasslands and open plains of sub-Saharan Africa, the Secretarybird is a critically endangered species, with estimates suggesting that only 6,700 individuals remain in the wild. Habitat destruction, human-wildlife conflict, and poisoning have all contributed to the decline of this magnificent bird, which plays a vital role in maintaining the ecosystem's balance. It's time to take action! We must work together to protect the Secretarybird and its habitat. Join the Fight to Save the Secretarybird! Join Green-for-Life Initiative to create a save environment for these birds and other endangered species. https://lnkd.in/dfUWBNSy #TreePlanting #Green-for-LifeInitiative #NGO #Treeplanting #BirdConservation #protectourplanet #eco-friendly #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalAwareness #WildlifeMatters #Sustainability #SustainableLiving #ConservationConnects #BirdLove #WildlifeConservation #EcosystemHeroes #BirdProtection #Sustainability #NatureLovers #BirdLovers #Sustainability #CommunityFirst #Greenify #Volunteer #Donate #SpreadTheWord

5 quick facts about the benefit of Buffalo, a #keystonespecies: Buffalo primarily inhabit grasslands, prairies, and plains. These ecosystems are characterized by their rich biodiversity, including a variety of grasses, flowering plants, and shrubs. The presence of buffalo plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the biodiversity of these habitats. By grazing, buffalo help control plant growth, preventing any single species from dominating. Their movement across the landscape promotes soil health through natural fertilization and aeration, encouraging a diverse range of plant species to thrive. This, in turn, supports a wide array of wildlife, including insects, birds, and other mammals, contributing to a balanced and vibrant ecosystem. The reintroduction of buffalo to certain areas has been shown to restore degraded grasslands, enhance plant diversity, and improve the overall health of the environment. 🦬 You can help support our efforts such as solar-powered wells for our rancher partners! No amount is too small to help them have better access to water for their herds.
