https://lnkd.in/g3iMxcYf Melbourne University Hallmark research initiative- Matt Watt (chair) identified need for interdisciplinary research on Pollution and Health. Pollution is largest environmental risk factor for health. Highlighting birth deformities and reproductive issues amongst other contaminant impacts. I really hope Public Health regulators and medical profession and veterinary profession leaders bothered to attend this workshop run by Australian Laboratory of Emerging Contaminants in Melbourne today. Whilst the research initiative aims to generate database for monitoring data and build bio-monitoring, it clearly needs shift Government policy urgently to achieve improvements in public and environmental health. We already know enough to change policy in the direction of safety. This program will only build the already substantial knowledge.

🌟 Event Recap: ASPIS Open Symposium 🌟 John Colbourne, the outgoing ASPIS Chair and PrecisionTox Coordinator, provided a comprehensive recap of the recent ASPIS Open Symposium. This gathering of partners and stakeholders from academia, industry and government agencies highlighted the substantial achievements and future directions of the ASPIS cluster projects: ONTOX, RISK-HUNT3R, and PrecisionTox. Let’s hear from John Colbourne as he reflects on two impactful years where: ▶ PrecisionTox emphasized the importance of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in protecting human health, environmental health, and biodiversity. ▶The Working groups from all three projects showcased groundbreaking results, demonstrating the practical application of NAMs in risk assessment frameworks. ▶The ASPIS Academy, an early careers research network supported by the three project coordinators was created, to cultivate the next generation of environmentalists, policymakers, and chemical risk assessors. The ASPIS cluster continues to pave the way toward a future where animal testing is minimized, and innovative methods ensure chemical safety. 🌍🔬 #ASPIS #NAMs
