Unfortunately in three years we won’t have any sea worthy ships or crew to man them so it my be part of the MOD’s strategy of using other nations to support us in war, instead of building our military up.

My former warfare colleagues may be able to correct me but, didn’t we have a laser device installed in the Type 22 and Type 42s operating in the Gulf in the late 1980s?

All joking aside… We all wish for our incredible armed forces to have the backing and support they need, to ensure their safety and the safety of the Nation. All power to those who create technology for that purpose. Of course there’s a price to everything and it’s about sensible economics and having the right people that make the right decisions. That’s always been the hard part.

I would imagine that the initial cost of installing one on a ship is expensive but you can't really argue with £10 a shot considering the amount of missles being sent from Yemen. It could be a cost save and more environmentally friendly.
