Tick Tock Early Learning Center offers childcare and preschool for nearly 100 kids in the Kennett Square (PA) community, but earlier this year severe weather knocked out the power and forced the center to close for several days. Constellation's home services team stepped up to ensure Tick Tock ELC will always be able to keep its doors open moving forward. The team purchased and installed an emergency backup generator so the center can maintain power through any future outages, preventing disruption for local families and safeguarding it from losing state funds for having to close. We’re always grateful to be able to support organizations like Tick Tock ELC that deliver an important and lasting impact in community. And in this case, it was special to be able to do what we do best: provide reliable power for the neighbors we serve.

When you relegate the conversation about raising tiny humans to social media (outside of LinkedIn), you inadvertently suggest that raising children is not 'work.' You isolate teachers, childcare workers, and stay-at-home parents, making them feel their contributions are invalid. Raising kids is the most valuable work there is, yet there isn’t a community here for discourse surrounding it. As a caregiver, I crave a place where I can discuss potty training, power struggles, enrichment courses, and the child development books I’m reading. I approach this work with the same attitude I bring to any paid work, even though, as a mother, it may be unpaid. We have the opportunity to set the standard that LinkedIn is also a place for educators and caregivers to connect.

Empowering Communities Through Thoughtful Spending and Localized Solutions! At RCI Community Funds, we believe that every community holds the key to its own transformation. By listening to residents’ needs and aligning spending decisions with their desires, we can create spaces that truly serve and uplift. 🎯 Imagine this: A local childcare center where parents can walk around the corner to drop off and pick up their children, even after a long workday. No more stressful commutes in the opposite direction. Localized childcare isn’t just convenient; it strengthens community bonds. 🍎 Or this: A neighborhood with fresh food options, a cozy sandwich shop, or a vibrant produce market. By recruiting businesses that align with what the community values and spends on, we foster economic vitality and meet real needs. When communities lead the way in shaping local services, the impact is transformative. Let’s prioritize what matters most to residents and make their vision a reality. #CommunityCapital #CommunityDevelopment #ChildCareSolutions #FreshFoodAccess #EconomicEmpowerment #LocalInvesting #RCICommunityFunds

I knew this was going to happen. I predicted it. Whenever government tries to take over a private industry, it becomes a DISASTER. Just another ill conceived socialist program, that has been even more poorly executed. Who in their right mind thought we could bring $100 per day costs down to $10 for parents, and why should we? Here is how we fix it. First, SCRAP the $10/day child care program. Second, increase the child care deductions to $500 per week and index it. Third, bring back a tax credit for children, to reflect the actual costs of raising them. Fourth, amend the Child Benefit and give it only to those who really need it. And Finally, create a Loan program to build child care facilties at schools, social clubs, community centres and churches. Let's build 500,000 new spaces in underused facilties that will help the entire community. https://lnkd.in/gw94B47U

💥 Compassionate Communities: Reviving Early Support for Families 💥 This recent report from the Institute for Fiscal Studies sheds light on the benefits that Sure Start brought to children and communities. While we can't reverse the closures, we must recognise the critical role of early years support and glean valuable insights from the Sure Start experience. I still recall a young mum who I was talking to when Sure Start was at its height, saying that her local Sure Start Centre was a lifeline for her when everything else in her life was falling apart. Sadly, three years later it was closed. While Home-Start and other local family support charities continue to work tirelessly to provide a lifeline for families, the need is simply too great for us to do it alone. The introduction of the Family Hub programme is a step in the right direction, but it's crucial to acknowledge the huge gap left by the closure of thousands of children's centres that were once part of a thriving community of support for families. Now more than ever, we need to rally behind the idea of rebuilding these communities and a partnership between the voluntary and public sector that truly makes a difference. Reviving early support on the scale we once had demands not just political will, but substantial investment. Yet, the evidence demonstrates the transformative potential of such initiatives. So let’s unite in advocating for the resurgence of comprehensive early years support, leveraging the invaluable lessons learned from Sure Start to pave the way for brighter, more equitable futures for our children and communities. #EarlyIntervention #CommunitySupport #FamilyWellbeing #SureStartLegacy
