Great article highlighting the recent Linesight report. Summary: The widening gap between labor supply and demand is increasing costs. Demand for construction workers has surged, leading to rising labor costs and increased project delays. Overall, the industry will require an additional 500,000 workers beyond the normal pace of hiring to meet demand in 2024. This is compounded by an ageing workforce: Most U.S. states anticipate an average age attrition of 24.5% of construction laborers over the next two years. It doesn’t have to be this way. Simple, easy fixes like increasing the number of prevailing wage request and PERM adjudicators could have an outsized impact on shortening the processing times for the employment based (EB-2 and EB-3) green card process. It’s time for employers who are suffering from chronic labor shortages to get some relief. #immigration, #constructionjobs, #laborshortage
