We're less than two years into the Generative AI revolution and the usage stats are nothing short of mind-boggling...and we're still in early innings. How consumers shop and research products, or even use "traditional search," will never be the same. I'm not exaggerating. Later today (1 PM EST), I'll be joining my BrandRank.AI colleague John Stieger to review a comprehensive study we just completed on views and use of generative AI (across all demos). We'll dive into the details and share a number of key implications for marketers and brand builders. The webinar is free, and you can sign up here: https://lnkd.in/gwN3uBQ3 I PROMISE you'll feel to urge to send a data blurb to your boss after the webinar. Again, TODAY AT 1 PM EST. I’m kind of shocked by the first bullet. Eager to learn more.
I keep saying - for many of us, our kids will never know a world without AI. That fact will have a profound impact on shifts in behavior. Often something hard for many of us to comprehend.
Hello. I have seen over 93% adoption rates on newer systems rolling:) Also over 1400 - estimated hours gained per human per year. Meaning productivity gains are also just booming in non coding function… This is just duplicate work savings, and information retrieval in larger orgs. These 2 items account for 15 hours a week estimated alone. Add another 9 hours of productivity gains with reduced context shifting and data generation and we get close to 1400 hours annually estimated. That is #insanity. Great share Pete Blackshaw! The world is a changing and I see you out front navigating. Keep crushing!
Quick real world example here. Yesterday, I went to a local home improvement store to start a project on my home. I had never done this type of project before and had no idea where to begin or what specific products to buy. If you've ever stood in an aisle with dozens of options that all look the same but do different things, you know it can be overwhelming. To make matters worse, there were no sales associates in the small store, so I turned to ChatGPT. I sent a photo of the countless options, and ChatGPT narrowed it down to the exact product I needed from the photo. I walked out with everything I needed to start my project in just 15 minutes. In the past, I would’ve likely picked up the wrong type of screw or tape and would have had to go back to the store wasting time and energy. That being said, I still prefer working with an actual human associate in these situations, but when none were available, AI was there to save the day.
I believe AI-driven search results have the potential to transform the search experience dramatically. From my experience with the new OpenAI SearchGPT browser extension, however, there are still notable areas for improvement. Google currently outperforms in areas like local business and service searches, offering more relevant results based on star ratings and geolocation data—a feature that provides more useful insights than what OpenAI offers. I also find the 'one-answer' approach of SearchGPT unfamiliar; while it's not necessarily a drawback, the experience takes some adjustment. It often requires multiple clicks to reach desired destinations, making traditional search feel slightly more efficient. I’m confident these issues will improve over time, but for now, this early iteration may lead some users to try it briefly and then disable it as it continues to evolve.
RIP "Search Economy" Hello "Answer Economy" (LLM-based search) and soon "Answer+ Action Economy" (LLM-based text to answer to action, with AI agents)
