While the big three of Marsh, Aon and WTW have long since dominated the APAC market, there have been repeated challenges in recent years to that hegemony by a new generation of broking houses. Gallagher has been the main challenger to date, making huge inroads into that dominance with the US$3.25 billion acquisition of WTW’s reinsurance business in late 2021.
