I've always said that life is only a matter of perspective, but our shared view and enabled engagement with the world will be forever changed. We now have multiple agents enabled to take in a view of the real world in real time. One that's already been embedded in glasses. We've seen how algorithms have played out in social media feeds. Imagine when the future training data is skewed by who is wearing it, what they experience, how they engage with the AI and which AI they are engaging with. It's interesting to think about how this new paradigm of interaction may evolve not just the human experience, but the AI's data in experiencing human interaction as well.

Maybe it’s just my fascination for following all accounts and pros AI-related, but I have to imagine that almost everyone on LinkedIn has come across at least one post in the past week about incredible AI-technology announcements by OpenAI, Apple and Google. Take, for example, the demo video from Google’s Project Astra, below. Beyond being awe-inspiring, my first thought was: what does this mean for the workplace? First, and as we have said with developments of all GenAI - employees are going to be using this technology, regardless as to whether employers condone or embrace it. So then, what does this mean for employers? There is an urgent need for development of AI-permissible use policies and updating of confidentiality and NDAs to reflect the realities of use of AI in the workplace. And in addition to policy updates: an education for employees. What does using these AI tools really mean when it comes to privacy and use of data? Yes, they are certainly alluring and will indeed improve efficiency for certain job duties - but privacy and confidentiality need to be in the forefront of the conversation when it comes to introducing AI tools in the workplace. I’m curious - how many lawyers out there are drafting AI Use Policies for their clients?
