Calling all early adopter bike shops! 99spokes.com already helps people create side-by-side comparisons of (almost) any bike on the market. While shopping online is convenient for some, many (most?) cyclists prefer the benefits of the LBS – test rides, expert advice, service support, community engagement, and more. There are countless reasons to choose the LBS experience. That’s why we’re developing a specialized version of 99 Spokes designed specifically for LBSs, and we're seeking shops to participate in our (free) early access beta program. A shop version of 99 Spokes is stripped of all advertising and optimized to highlight the brands your shop carries. We envision 99 Spokes being bookmarked on the shop computer, and used for things like ✅ Sending a potential customer out the door (assuming they’re not ready to purchase today) with an in-depth comparison of the bikes they’re considering. Simply scan a QR code and give them something to ponder, research, share with friends, and most importantly – a reminder to come back to your shop when they’re ready to buy. ✅ Using a digital comparison to compare, in detail, bikes that you may not have on the floor today, but can order. You can save frequently used comparisons on your account to make this quick and easy. ✅ Walking a customer through visualizations highlighting geometry, spec, price, ride feel, & gear range differences. ✅ Quickly reference original specs from a customer’s bike when they don’t have it with them (e.g. which brake pads should I buy? 😀) ✅ Training new staff on the differences and similarities between different brands/models. Here’s a sample shop-branded share view – https://lnkd.in/eumuE2KJ If this sounds like something that you might be interested in please reach out, either on LinkedIn or via email (scott@99spokes.com), and we’ll get you set up with a free beta account!

🚴♂️ Customer Insights at Tyred 🚴♀️ Over the past few months, we've gathered valuable insights into what our customers love (and don’t love) about bicycle servicing. We’ve discovered that bicycle servicing is a mix of going to the dentist and getting your hair cut. While nobody eagerly anticipates a trip to the dentist, when something goes wrong, you want it fixed professionally, quickly, and affordably. On the other hand, the personal touch of getting to know your mechanic and building a relationship is similar to visiting your favorite hairdresser. To meet these needs, we are implementing several features: Personal Mechanic Requests: Just like choosing your preferred hairdresser, you can now request your favorite mechanic for your bike servicing. Instant Bookings: Need a flat tire fixed ASAP? We’ve got you covered with instant bookings. To address this video, what we did learn from our test also, was that some people do prefer the personal communication options with booking a service. So, our upcoming app version will retain the chat feature, keeping you in constant contact with our team. Whether you prefer booking a repair by talking to someone or selecting a service directly, we’re here to help. #CustomerExperience #BicycleServicing #tyred #Innovation #BikeLife #London #Cycling #Startup #micromobility #growth

Dutch bicycle retail returns to life again after 2023 ZEIST, Netherlands - After a sharp contraction in 2023, the Dutch bicycle retail market has partially recovered from January to March this year, with transaction volume increasing by 5.2% annually. Benchmarks from H&L Accounting and Tax Company show that revenue in the same period last year was still 10% lower than in 2022, mainly due to a surge in sales in 2022. Sales volume in the Dutch market dropped from 833,366 vehicles in 2022 to 804,101 vehicles last year, an annual decrease of 6%. Due to higher average retail prices, market revenue last year was 1.4 billion euros, which was only a 3.7% decrease from the previous year. The H&L benchmark report not only includes total bicycle revenue, but also accessories, service and workshop revenue. Weather assists In January this year, retailers said revenue increased only slightly by 1.9%, and in February it increased only slightly by 1.6% compared with the same period last year. The H&L report pointed out that the good weather in March helped sales, with revenue increasing by 9.6%. The German market is showing a similar trend. IFH, a retail research organization headquartered in Cologne, Germany, pointed out in its annual market research report that the decline in bicycle and e-bike sales last year was a one-off. According to IFH, market demand will gradually pick up starting this year. Inventory removal For Dutch retailers, average profits rose to 13.8% of revenue in the first quarter, a slight increase from the same period last year. However, it is still unknown whether inventory reduction will put pressure on profits in the next few months. Car workshops are still an important part of IBD's profits, and revenue continues to grow as expected. At XVE, we're at the forefront of this innovation, driving excellence in charger technology. 10 minutes grocery delivery is a booming business. Giving E-Bikes to the delivery men is also a nice initiative to go eco friendly and save up on cost. What's not right is when those delivery men ride the E-bikes worst than even the paddle cycles. Just to deliver on time :- • Delivery men take wrong turns. • Ride on the wrong side. • If the traffic is heavy they even resort to getting on the pavement. • No regards for traffic signals. Above are few of the problems I have faced with these Delivery Men on the road. Perhaps giving them E-Bikes was smart but at least draw some rules for their rides, for their 10 minutes delivery they risk their lives as well as the ones around them. Brands like Blinkit, Zepto and the likes should think about safety apart from customer convenience and eco-friendly initiative with the E-Bikes. #roadsafety

Great summary from Tim Grootjans reflecting the consolidation within the bike industry. For Magic Lane, this market - including it's consolidation - is an innovation driven market for us. Why? ⚖ only brands who can create economies of scale or niche markets will survive and they need to bring innovation themselves 💡 building a bike is not unique, building it efficient and with innovative solutions to create a brand experience, that will make the difference ⚡ also the latest McKinsey & Company insights presented by Anja Huber and Darius Scurtu during Micromobility Industries Europe insights are reflecting the growth in the e-bike sector, driven by innovation 🏁 If you ask me, to build a bike brand, it is all about creating an experience around the bike and your bike friends. The bike mechanics needs to be good but the major change will be driven by digital innovation. Magic Lane has started to become a crucial part in this journey 🚀 #locationintelligence #iot #map #location #navigation
Did you know that just 14 companies control a combined total of 88 bike brands? This centralization brings both opportunities and challenges to the forefront of our sector. - Opportunities: This level of centralization allows for significant economies of scale, enabling these companies to invest heavily in R&D and bring innovative products to market more efficiently. It also facilitates broader global distribution networks, making bikes accessible to a wider audience. - Challenges: However, such centralization can also stifle competition and innovation from smaller players who may struggle to compete on pricing and distribution. It raises questions about diversity in bike offerings and the potential homogenization of products. As we at ZÆT continue to carve our niche in this dynamic landscape, we are keenly aware of these dynamics. Our goal is to complement the existing industry by introducing products that meet specific needs not addressed by larger corporations. What are your thoughts on this industry centralization? How do you see it impacting innovation and consumer choice in the bike market? #BikeIndustry #MarketDynamics #Innovation #Sustainability #CyclingCommunity #ZAET #TimGrootjans P.S. I spent 8 hours researching and creating this graphic to share with you all. If you spot any mistakes or have any suggestions, feel free to let me know! P.S.
