I'm off to #londonbuildexpo today and the hot topic in housebuilding which definitely isn't going away is #substainability. Whether you're working on a small development or a large-scale residential project, ensuring that every phase of the build is efficient, transparent, and eco-conscious is crucial. Today, I want to highlight how Asite is playing a key role in driving this transformation by helping to streamline project delivery while keeping sustainability at the forefront! Tracking Progress Easily - As projects evolve through each stage of development, Asite makes it simple to track progress in real-time, ensuring that any delays or obstacles are flagged early, allowing for quicker responses and mitigating potential environmental impacts. From Pre-Construction to Client Handover, Asite supports all RIBA stages. This ensures a smoother transition between each phase, reducing waste and improving communication. In a world where construction has a significant environmental impact, Asite's tools make it easier than ever to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with sustainability at their core! If any of my contacts fancy a coffee please drop me a message and lets have a chat! #Sustainability #Housebuilding #ConstructionTech #Asite https://lnkd.in/eiFBX38f Phil Hannabuss Barry McCall Sasha Roberts Chloe Godlieb

Next week, Miller Hull Associate, April Ng, AIA, will be presenting Loom House at the National Institute of Building Sciences’s BEST6 Conference in Austin, Texas. April will be joined by 4EA Building Science Principal, Jeff Speert in the session 'A Mid-Century Gem Goes Net Positive.’ Located on a beautifully landscaped bluff overlooking Puget Sound, Loom House is an extensive renovation of a 1960s Pacific Northwest mid-century 2-building residence on Bainbridge Island. As one of only four homes on earth to meet full Living Building Challenge Certification, the impact of Loom House has continued to drive the project forward, advocating for change far beyond its property line. This presentation will focus on key upgrades to the enclosure. These changes include the addition of insulation, air sealing, and glazing replacement while maintaining and enhancing the character of this distinctly Pacific Northwest home. Lessons learned will be shared that could have applicability to other exposed wood structure buildings. April and Jeff will present an analysis of the global warming potential of the interventions and the strategies employed for net positive energy. The project demonstrates hyper-efficient enclosure design and implementation as well as the potential for greening existing building stock. Click the link to register, https://bit.ly/49yQvik.

Last week I got to do my favourite thing — speak to a room full of really smart people. Here I am in front of an audience of passionate and curious folks at the second annual Deep Energy Retrofit Seminar. Hosted by ENFORM Architects Inc, it’s an event that looks to the future, and brings together people who care about making the buildings we build greener and more efficient. This event was right up my alley, because, like I always say, the greenest building you can build is the one you already have. A new building takes so many more resources than a retrofit to an existing building. And by recladding with high performance facades, leaky, inefficient buildings can be revolutionized. And that’s exactly what I talked about. I got to share about a project I’m so thrilled to be a part of, the retrofit of a twelve storey building owned by Toronto Community Housing. I talked about CERACLAD™ panels and subsystems from U-kon Systems, two products that, when combined, can help create high-performance #facadesystems. They’ve been a big part of what’s made this TCH project so successful. Thanks to the organizers for an event dedicated to an important topic. Thanks most of all to the people behind me — the folks in the audience asked some great questions, and I was glad to get to meet a few of them too. Here’s to building better! (And getting more out of the buildings we already have.) #facades #facadedesign

In Saint Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, Gmuden, Austria, a contemporary railway station debuted in 2023. A series of canopies rooves allow for an abundance of natural like to illuminate the interior spaces and reduce the need for lighting throughout the day. The state of the art station, utilizes heat pumps for its heating and cooling systems and solar photovoltaics to power a majority of the station. Minimal material usage and locally sourced timber further reduces the projects carbon footprint, and creates a connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. An inspirational sustainable addition to the world of public transportation, hopefully more projects just like this will take shape in our cities.
