Energiequelle GmbH Marks Milestone with Commissioning of 5.56 MW Bad Gandersheim Repowering Project In mid-February, Energiequelle GmbH began operations for a new E-160 wind turbine boasting a hub height of 166 meters and an output of 5.56 MW in Bad Gandersheim, Lower Saxony. Positioned at a towering height of 250 meters and situated adjacent to the A7 motorway, this state-of-the-art turbine commands a visible presence from a distance. The project’s groundwork commenced last February with the decommissioning of four outdated turbines operational since 2000. The useful life of a wind farm always was a great question to ask when the farm is officially operating. the common idea or information that a typical wind farm will typically deliver 20 years to 25 years of use (take into consideration OPEX) , but lately I came across a lot of wind farms that are not exceptionally running for 30 years , and developers were not considering decommissioning of the plant YET , so it was interesting to know how they manage to do that (especially with old technologies which for ME , decommissioning was a great trade deal , powerful turbines and More MW/KM) . the paper below clarifies why they did that (obviously it's a money thing). but with more technical and economical explanations , it turns out that most of the project developers prefer the 30 -35 years range of operation due to (obviously money) LCOE , that offer the last 10/5 years of operations to be full profite for the developers. Wind Farms Taubenkopf and Holzschlägermatte - Part 5: Enercon E-138 and E-160 Fully Installed The construction of the three new wind turbines at Taubenkopf and Holzschlägermatte in Freiburg is complete. After the Enercon E-138 EP3 was installed at Holzschlägermatte, the E-160 was erected at Taubenkopf as the final turbine. With the completion of the new turbines, it’s also time to bid farewell to the old E-66 at Rosskopf. In the meantime, the turbine has already been dismantled, and the tower is set to be demolished shortly.
