Nvidia is inserting itself deeper into the AI ecosystem to grow with these startups. Running intensive AI applications requires specialized processors. Nvidia dominates this market, with an estimated up to 95% market share. Many of the startups the chipmaker has invested in are in turn using Nvidia’s chips. What’s next? We’re watching Nvidia’s investment and partnership activity to track the future of the AI landscape. For example, the chipmaker is partnering with companies focusing on quantum AI.

Meet COGNIFIBER, an Asper Prize 2024 Finalist! What is their #StartupStory? CogniFiber, was founded in 2018 by Dr. Eyal Cohen and Prof. Zeev Zalevsky with the aim to reinvent computation and create a new, AI-driven reality. The company is developing revolutionary scalable and trainable neuromorphic photonic processors to accelerate AI computations in the markets of HPC Servers, High-Frequency Trading, Cybersecurity and Low-Latency Switching. CogniFiber’s DeepLight technology, supported by 36 patent applications, will reach a staggering computation speed of up to 1000X over any existing processor (Giga-inferences/sec) while consuming less than 1% of the power per task.  The company currently raises its A-2 Series ($15M, $5M closed, $30M valuation), which is a unique opportunity just before scale-up. Current traction includes global fiber manufacturers (OFS, Fujikura, NKT), Global players (Intel, Seagate, Dell, AMD) and governmental innovation bodies (IAA, MAFAT).
