It seems that in today's world, there is a fear of morals, as evident in that we only have one day to be thankful, one day to appreciate each of one's parents, seemingly very hard to be held to these morals for more than one day. Should we cave to such standards? Find out about this question and more at oorah.org/asktherabbi #asktherabbi #atr #Thanksgiving

The Christmas season can bring a lot of joy, but it can also be a difficult time for many. We may be surrounded by others who are hurting - whether we're aware of it or not. Carrying another’s burden doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t require solving the problem. In fact, it’s often best if you don’t try to solve anything. All it takes is seeing, noticing, loving, caring – just like Jesus did. Here are a few simple ways to help carry one another’s burdens: https://lnkd.in/gpJmkPgp

Thanksgiving is a time for connection, but it’s also a time when expectations can feel overwhelming—especially for firstborn daughters who are often the “go-to” for family support. This year, remember: it’s okay to say no. It’s okay to skip a family event if it means protecting your peace. It’s okay to choose rest over responsibilities. It’s okay to put yourself first. Saying no doesn’t mean you love your family any less—it means you’re honoring your own needs. Taking care of yourself is a gift to everyone around you, because when you’re rested and at peace, you show up more fully in every area of your life. This Thanksgiving, let’s celebrate YOU—your boundaries, your growth, and your well-being. 💙 You don’t have to do it all. Taking care of yourself is enough. #FirstbornDaughters #ThanksgivingSelfCare #SetBoundaries #HealingJourney #EmotionalWellness

A season to serve, and a season to be served - which is it for you? This week many of us will be serving each other dinner. While bringing the mashed potatoes isn’t exactly walking in Mother Theresa’s shoes, it’s important not to minimize any act of service. When we think of others beyond ourselves, we bless them. And, in an ironically selfish way, we bless ourselves. Most churches encourage service - even Alcoholics Anonymous bakes it into its recovery program - because we, as humans, are naturally self-centered. When we extend beyond ourselves, we gain perspective, gratitude, and we help others. In my practice, though, I see service go south. People overextend themselves, or neglect their own family members, just to fulfill service obligations. Their self-worth is tied up in serving, and receiving service feels weak and insufficient. There is a season to serve and to be served. We cannot pour from empty vessels. How do we give others a chance to serve if we do not accept service at times? This takes humility and grace. Service should extend outward - fill the self first (spiritually, physically, emotionally), then the family, then move outwards towards others. I have seen frequent examples of people whose service is having the opposite effect on others (and themselves) because they are unwell themselves. Sometimes, it is your season to receive. Allowing others to serve us is a gift. If we enjoy serving, why wouldn’t we bless others by letting them serve us? This recipe of giving and receiving will bless you and others for a lifetime. Now, please pass the mashed potatoes. #fillyourvessel #gratitude #findjoy #heal #nurtureyourself #SelfCareFirst #copingskills #equip #mentalhealth #harttbarn #harttcoaching #Thanksgiving #service

Sunday mornings are when I gather with my community of faith … today was from a different perspective. I love music and the way it is so impactful. My favorite is to use my voice to tell God how thankful I am for all He has done in my life. It’s been a while since I was on the platform … I was a bit nervous. But once I focused on the purpose of the song, all things settled and it felt like just me and God. What refreshes you? What moves you?
