Over the coming months, CEEW and Project InnerSpace will work to unlock the geothermal potential illustrated by GeoMap™ India! Expanding on the partnership, Arunabha Ghosh says, "As India builds a resilient energy ecosystem, geothermal technologies, which can offer firm and flexible power, are worth exploring to provide much-needed diversity to the energy mix. Newer ways of tapping into geothermal can make it an important source of clean firm energy in India and help reduce the challenges of intermittency that solar and wind pose. We are actively collaborating with scientific agencies to understand the potential resources in India, and inform policy-making that will help realize this potential."
Project InnerSpace is excited to launch today GeoMap India. 🔥🔥🔥 The tool is a first-of-its-kind for India, mapping geothermal development potential by combining 175 subsurface and surface datasets, and identifying the most promising regions for geothermal development. The tool highlights the massive potential of untapped geothermal energy to become a crucial part of India’s clean energy mix as it seeks to spur economic growth and development by increasing energy supply. GeoMap™ India highlights several regions in India that are particularly promising for geothermal development requiring higher temperatures, like for power and industrial heat production. These regions include: 1) Gujarat State on India’s west coast, including the area of the Southern Cambay Basin and the major industrial zone of Jhagadia; 2) Large areas of east and northeast India, particularly in the Bihar and Meghalaya States, 3) The Himalayan region of northwestern India; 4) Through the central Son Narmada Fault Zone, and 5) Along the eastern coast in the Andhra Pradesh State, along the Godavari rift, including the outskirts of Vijayawada, Andhra’s commercial hub. The tool also has some fun new features, like a data center layer that assists with prospecting for developers, and a coal plant conversion layer. In conjunction with the development of GeoMap India, InnerSpace partnered with Aarti Industries Ltd. to perform an industrial heat geothermal conversion study on one of its manufacturing facilities in a region of interest, and has launched with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and a group of local partners “The Future of Geothermal in India,” a comprehensive study focused on catalyzing geothermal energy production in India. The study will be published in 2025. 🌪 What could be the possible failure(s) here? 📚 Wouldn't feasibility studies reveal possible threats of this kind of massive investments? 💥 Or is it simply a sign saying, Solar Plants are not that successful? "The world's largest floating solar plant in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district has been damaged by a storm. The plant, built on the backwaters of Omkareshwar Dam, was ready for launch but, however, was hit by a summer storm on Tuesday. The plant is a joint venture of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation and the Madhya Pradesh government, and the NHDC has commenced evaluating the damage. NHDC subdivisional officer Suresh Dwivedi said that a ‘major loss’ occurred to the solar panels installed for the plant. “Officials are assessing the loss. The survey is expected to be completed in two days,” TOI quoted Dwivedi as saying. Despite the setback, the power production is expected to resume soon, the report quoted senior officials as saying. The Omkareshwar Dam backwaters will house plants with capacities of 100 megawatts in the Kelwa Khurd area, 88 megawatts in the Indawadi region, and 90 megawatts in Ekhand village. Among them, the 100 megawatt project in Kela Khurd village is nearly complete. However, damage was reported in the panels of the Indhawadi plant." 𝐌𝐚𝐲 2008: India and Bhutan agreed to double the scale of their joint hydroelectric power projects to 10,000 MW by 2020, with Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation Limited holding a 49% stake and Indian public sector companies holding 51%. **Private players were excluded!** 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 2012: TATA Power urged the Indian government to allow private participation in foreign hydro projects and began discussions with Bhutanese officials. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 2012: They confirmed a joint venture with the Bhutanese government and Druk Green Power to develop the 126 MW Dagachhu Hydro Project. 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 2024: They again signed another agreement to develop the 600 MW Khorlochhu Hydropower Project in Bhutan. TATAs as a brand has almost every time found supporters in majority political camps in India. Whether it was Congress-led UPA back than or its BJP-led NDA government currently, or BJD's majority in Odisha during privatization in 2020 - we write down why 'Tata Power' in particular enjoys an edge over others with lesser political risk. 📢 Exciting Developments in India's Power Sector! The Union Government's recent approval for Coal India's subsidiaries to establish thermal power plants marks a significant milestone in the country's energy landscape. With a substantial investment of over ₹4700 crore, this initiative will enhance India's thermal power generation capacity and ensure a stable fuel supply for the future of India. Key highlights of this development include: 🔹 Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will set up a 2x800 MW thermal power plant in Sundargarh, Odisha, in partnership with Mahanadi Basin Power Ltd. This project will see an investment of ₹4,784 crore. 🔹 South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), in collaboration with MP Power Generation Company, will establish a 1x660 MW thermal power plant at Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, with an investment of ₹823 crore. 🔹 Fuel Supply Assurance (FSA) tenure extended to 10 years, providing long-term stability and security for non-regulated sectors. These projects align with the government's vision of boosting industrial growth and ensuring sustainable energy production. The response to the recent tranche-VII of the linkage auction for the sponge iron sub-sector has been overwhelmingly positive, with 99% of the total offered quantity being successfully booked. At Shivani India Solutions, we are committed to supporting these transformative initiatives by providing expert consultancy services in domestic coal and railways. Our team is dedicated to optimizing supply chains, enhancing fuel management practices, and improving procurement processes within the power generation sector. We look forward to the positive impact these projects will have on India's energy infrastructure and industrial development. #PowerGeneration #CoalIndia #EnergySector #ThermalPower #SustainableEnergy #ShivaniIndiaSolutions #IndustrialGrowth

#TQCrew in action in the Himalayas! Our commitment to a sustainable future extends beyond the boardroom! Recently, our team visited a 99 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant nestled in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This impressive facility, situated on the banks of the Mandakini River, a tributary of the mighty Ganga, showcases the potential of hydropower in India's clean energy landscape. Hydropower plays a crucial role in India's energy mix, currently contributing around 12% of the nation's installed power capacity. As India strives to achieve its ambitious renewable energy goals, responsible development and operation of hydropower plants are key. This site visit served a crucial purpose – to assess the project's activities against the stringent guidelines of the Global Carbon Council (GCC) standard. At True Quality Certifications Pvt Ltd, we ensure these projects are developed and operated responsibly.
