The CoreCivic Foundation proudly supports nonprofits that help justice-involved individuals, victims of crime, and underserved youth. One of those deserving charities is Family Reconciliation Center. This organization helps to cover travel costs for families visiting incarcerated loved ones by providing lodging, toiletries, and food. Our visitors come from all over Tennessee, Memphis, Johnson City, Knoxville, Dyersburg and they are so grateful to have a place to stay. My name is Sherry Sellmeyer, I'm on the board of the Family Reconciliation Center. We're an all volunteer run organization that provides a free lodging for people who come to visit the prisons. So we have a 5 bedroom house that's pretty close to the main prisons and people stay there absolutely free. We always say there's nothing easy. Everything's hard about having a loved one who's incarcerated, so we try to be the one thing that's not hard. So this really gives them a nice, convenient place to stay and we get great reviews and they are lovely families and so grateful to be there. We have a lot of guests who bring their children. We have grandparents who bring their grandchildren, families who bring best friends of those who are incarcerated. OK, so I've met some wonderful people and realized how important it is for families to make that connection, to have regular visits. So they need that connection to help them make the transition. We are a small but mighty organization and we have no paid staff, so we're all volunteers. So it means a lot to us to receive a grant from the Course Civic Foundation. And not only that, but Corecivic has provided us with volunteer teams. Just last week a volunteer team came and did all the maintenance you need to do on our yard for falls because we rely on volunteers. That's really important to us and we're very grateful for that and we have to continue to rely on volunteers and donors to keep this very important. Mission going of making this the one thing about having a person who's incarcerated in prison, not hard for families. You can donate by going to our website familyreconciliationcenter.org.
