Virgin Australia has added its code to a host of Air New Zealand routes operated across the Tasman. The codeshare routes connect Australian cities to three New Zealand airports: Auckland (AKL), Christchurch and Wellington. The codeshare includes Air New Zealand flights to all three points from Australian cities Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. The Virgin Australia code will also be on Air New Zealand’s year-round flights between Perth and AKL. Three more codeshare routes include seasonal flights to AKL from Cairns, Hobart and Sunshine Coast. 2024-12-09 .

July was a very busy month at Dublin Airport as we welcomed just over 3.4 million passengers - a 1% increase on the same month last year. The busiest day during the month was Sunday, 28th of July when 122,300 passengers went through the airport’s two terminals - a new record for a single day. Demand to fly in and out of Dublin Airport has never been higher, both from passengers, including hundreds of thousands of families heading off on much-anticipated summer breaks, thousands heading to the Olympics in France, and also from airlines who are keen to add new routes and increase the frequency of existing services at Ireland’s national airport. Every day in July saw more than 100,000 passengers travelling through the airport. August is set to be another busy month, with forecasts suggesting that the number of passengers passing through our two terminals could be as much as 5% higher than August 2023. As well as holiday traffic, we’re seeing strong demand for business customers and also from tourists flying in from all over the world. ✈

The summer may be over and the kids are back to school, but September was still a very busy month for passenger traffic at Cork Airport! 🛫 Compared with September 2023, 14% more passengers flew to and from Cork Airport - which is currently the fastest growing airport in the state. Many passengers took the opportunity for some late summer sunshine, flying from the South of Ireland’s busiest airport to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Italy, and Greece. Passenger traffic and load factors on routes to the UK, along with the major European hubs of Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle, remained strong. With two new winter routes announced by Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline yesterday (Brussels Charleroi and Rome Ciampino), Cork Airport will continue to provide key, direct access to some of Europe’s largest cities this winter including Rome, Paris, and Barcelona. Commenting on the September passenger traffic statistics, daa CEO Kenny Jacobs said: “Growth at Cork Airport continues on a very healthy and a very strong trajectory. Cork is the fastest growing airport in the state and that is exemplified with 14% more passengers travelling to and from the airport during the month of September compared with September last year. I know that the team in Cork are working incredibly hard to secure new and additional services. Just yesterday, Ryanair announced two new winter routes from Cork for the coming season. I expect that there will be further good news from Cork as the months progress. Cork Airport has the fullest of support from daa Group in continuing that robust growth into the future.” #LoveTakingOff

In a large geographical and rural county, this is not going to help the Norfolk ecomomy grow and is poor planning and foresight to just pass on the full cap increase. Buses are a necessity for many and for many of these travellers, they are on minimum wage. There will be less bus passenger journeys, less spending in shops, in pubs and in restaurants. Plaudits to Manchester and other cities who are going to keep the cap at £2 (through subsidies and better budgeting).

In October 2024, approximately 5.7 million passengers traveled via Frankfurt Airport, up slightly by 0.3 percent from the corresponding month of 2023. During the fall school holidays in the German state of Hesse flights to warm-weather locations were in especially great demand: They included destinations in Greece, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. Total passenger numbers across all airports actively managed by Fraport rose by 2.5 percent to about 16.9 million in October 2024. Most of the airports operated by the Fraport Group outside of Germany registered passenger growth: For example, the volume at Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia grew by 7.3 percent year-on-year to 127,572 travelers and Fraport’s 14 Greek regional airports experienced a 9.2 percent increase in demand, with a total passenger volume of around 3.4 million.
