When a client asked us to reimagine their annual kids' holiday party into a more inclusive event for families without children, we were all in! The goal was clear: boost attendance and create an event that adults without kids would actually want to attend. Our first question was: What would make adults excited about this event? Here’s how we did it: 🎸 Adult-Focused Entertainment: We brought in a guitarist, mocktail demo stations, and a typewriter poet for unique, interactive experiences. 🍹 Sophisticated Touches: From mocktails to servers passing juice boxes on trays like fancy cocktails (yes, that happened!), every detail added a layer of fun and charm. 🛋️ A Lounge for Adults: Working closely with our industry partners, Sharon Bosley House Avant-Garde Designs, we focused on crafting an elevated, adult-friendly experience. We designed a lounge area that felt like it was made just for them, dedicating two-thirds of the room to adult-friendly spaces while keeping one-third for the kids. Of course, we didn’t forget the little ones. There was still plenty for them to enjoy, but this year’s event marked a big step toward inclusivity and balance. And the results? RSVPs were up by over 100! We can’t wait to see the survey feedback and learn more about the impact of this transformation.

This is me and my tree which has been up for a fortnight already. No regrets! The point of this post : It’s worth noting that Christmas decorations can be tax-deductible… If you're a business owner, expenses for decorations in your office, storefront, or workspace may qualify as a business expense under entertainment or marketing costs. >💡Tip: ensure the decorations serve a business purpose, like enhancing customer experience or creating a festive atmosphere for employees. >❗️Remember, personal Xmas decs, like my tree at my home nor those in my home office don’t qualify. #christmas #taxtips

Christmas Challenges When You’re Visually Impaired The festive season is full of magic, but for those of us with vision impairments, it can come with unique challenges. Twinkling lights and elaborate decorations are beautiful for many, but they can make navigating spaces more difficult. Unfamiliar layouts in shops, unexpected obstacles, and even reflective surfaces can turn a festive outing into a bit of an obstacle course. Crowded Christmas markets and busy streets can also be overwhelming. Relying on sound cues becomes trickier with so much noise around, and it’s easy to feel disoriented. Let’s not forget the extra consideration for guide dogs, who might find these busy, chaotic environments stressful too. This time of year is all about coming together, so let’s remember to make the festive season accessible and inclusive for everyone. Whether it’s leaving clear paths, offering help when asked, or just being patient, small actions can make a big difference. #ChristmasAccessibility #VisuallyImpaired #InclusiveFestivities #GuideDogLife #SightLossJourney #AccessibleHolidays #FestiveSeasonChallenges #VICommunity
