I have recently updated my ‘services’ section with a load of suggestions from LinkedIn, but what can I actually do for your business as a Fractional Marketing resource…. 🤷♂️ What are the real benefits? 📈 I work with a lot of SMEs who either didn’t have ANY marketing resource, or had limited capacity but no real strategy or direction. 🎯 There was limited focus or consistency for their ‘marketing’. 💡 So, step one, audit the current situation, review audience profiles and apply some strategic control and guidance for the outputs. Often businesses work with channel specialists – GREAT- these people can deep dive certain aspects of the marketing mix, but typically they stay in their lane. 🏊♂️ So step two ensure that ALL the channels in use are working together AND identify gaps where there are further opportunities to engage with a target audience. BUT the budget is limited – and perhaps this is one of the most important benefits; making the budget and each channel work really hard. 💰 Step three was usually then content creation to satisfy the current channels or activate some new ones. But you don’t want to do things twice, so ensuring the content consistency across all channels; web, blogs, social, newsletter, collateral and PR is a skill…done well it can be really efficient – and effective. 📣 📲 💻 (But, keep the specialists in the loop too!!) These steps can take time but having someone who can take a birds-eye view of the requirement, who really understands what the client wants to achieve from their marketing channels (and how to measure the effectiveness), while also minding the budget by taking on a range of tasks – at once - is a decent start. # You Come to Me In the world of digital marketing, there's a prevailing mantra: "You have to meet the customer where they are." Today, I'm here to tell you that this couldn't be further from the truth, at least based on my 30 years of experience in the field. Think about email. If you have a Gmail address and I want to reach you, I must email you from my Gmail address, thereby exposing the email I use to communicate with Google. Now, consider the alternative: come to me instead. Drop me a Skype message or a Discord chat, and you'll see how quickly I respond. Send me a Gmail? I check it maybe once a month, usually only when I'm reading my Creator notes from YouTube. Let’s talk about the phone. I text you, "Hey, what's up? Got a moment to talk?" and then I wait... days or even weeks for a reply. Instead, come to me. Join my Skype group, hop into my Discord community, engage, post things, and I'll respond and comment swiftly. Now, let's consider social media platforms like LinkedIn. When I DM you out of the blue, you might feel annoyed, thinking I'm just another person pitching an offer. But if you come to me, it’s a whole different story. I post an article that garners 7,000 views, you discover my content, you send me a friend request, and you message me, telling me what you want and how I can help you. You book a call in my calendar, and you show up. Coming to me is exponentially more effective than me trying to meet you where you're at. Especially if I know more than you. I've been in the digital marketing game since 1994 – over 30 years of experience. What about you? If you have more experience than I do in a certain field, I'll come to you. But otherwise, come to me. Meet me where I am at. Meet me on my platform. Learn from me. This shift in mindset isn't just about convenience; it's about leveraging expertise and creating value. When you come to me, you're tapping into a wealth of knowledge and experience that can propel your business forward. You're not just getting a response; you're getting a partnership, a collaboration, and a pathway to greater success. In my journey, I've found that creating an environment where people come to me has allowed for more meaningful interactions and more effective communication. It’s about setting the stage for success and then inviting others to join you on that stage. So, I challenge you to rethink your approach.
