Join us in our upcoming joint webinar with the Association of Colleges that highlights the collaborative work universities and colleges are doing in the #healthcare sector. Recruitment and #retention of healthcare staff remains a challenge, and it has become crucial to widen access and participation to groups in the community that do not traditionally go on to higher education. The case studies highlight how universities and FE colleges are working together to increase the pool of talent in healthcare education, how these important partnerships have developed, and the positive impact they are having in their community. Speakers will include Ian Munro from the Association of Colleges and representatives from both HE and FE Institutions. Register via link below: https://bit.ly/4gicAoK

‘Dementia is the biggest unmet clinical need of our time’. I became a scientist because during my arts A-levels (which I loved), I read Prof Baroness Susan Greenfield’s book ‘The Private Life of the Brain’ & I vividly remember thinking ‘I need to change track & do science A-levels’ as I knew I wanted to study clinical neuroscience! The brain, how it works and sadly, what happens when it becomes damaged, deeply fascinates me. It’s the most phenomenal machine in the known universe. But, it was too late to change my A-level choices a year in, so in my gap year (I had already found myself 😉), I studied Biology & Chemistry A-Levels to get a Psychology Undergrad place. Then, I went on to do a PhD in clinical neuroscience & postdoc, which naturally led to a career in Artificial Intelligence. During my academic training, I had the heart-breaking privilege of working with patients (&families) living with Frontotemporal Dementia (NHS website: https://lnkd.in/ed3Sk2_S). l remain totally inspired by the first STEMinist I ever ‘met’ in the pages of that book; it changed the steer of my life - watch the below speech👇What a call to action for all of us lucky enough to work on this space…! #dementia #neuroscience #research #AI #socialcare #patientpathway #diagnosis #STEMinist

Between 1975 and 2010, the number of U.S. healthcare administrators grew by 3,200%, while the number of physicians increased by only 150%. There’s a similar, albeit not as dramatic, trend in education. The number of district administrators in U.S. public schools has grown 87.6 percent between 2000 and 2019 compared to student growth at 7.6 percent and teacher growth at 8.7 percent. It’s time to address out of control bureaucracy in a meaningful way.

Exciting Update: New Compensation Model Expands Access to Primary Care! 📈 Here’s a breakdown of what this means… British Columbia is adapting its healthcare system to connect more patients with primary care by updating compensation models and attachment systems. Since 2022, the province has added more physicians and NPs to its network 🌟. This shows two things: Transforming outdated structures CAN increase provider capacity 💪. Believing in the talent and potential of NPs can seriously impact healthcare for the better 🚀. Yet, while systems like B.C.'s aim to expand care, each year, we see thousands of promising NP students facing delays in securing the clinical rotations they need to graduate 🎓. Without enough support and the nationwide preceptor shortage in the U.S., NP students struggle for months, trying to pave their own path to graduation, slowing down talents that could seriously transform the current situation of our healthcare 🩺. But why do students struggle so much with securing their rotations? This struggle stems from two main reasons: overworked students who lack the bandwidth and know-how to reach out to preceptors and preceptor burnout, which leads to a hesitation to take on students. The solution lies in building bridges that connect eager talent from NP students like you to opportunities with less friction 🌉, just as B.C. expanded its provider network by changing an outdated structure. Our goal at NPHub is to save healthcare by supporting NP students 💖.
