Gender Parity Still Elusive in Leadership Having only #onewoman and #20men elected to #COG leadership positions highlights the ongoing challenge in achieving #genderequity in public office. This stark imbalance underscores the continued struggle to meet the #twothirdsgenderrule, a constitutional principle designed to promote fair representation of #WomenInLeadership. True #genderequality is not just a legal requirement but a societal imperative for balanced and inclusive decision-making. Let us continue advocating for more representation and supporting women in their journey toward leadership roles.

🔍 SRHR Workshop for Gender Equality | Engaging Change-Makers 🧡 We recently held an impactful SRHR workshop with members of the Gender Community Development Service (CDS) group, focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Positive Masculinity. The session provided a platform to equip Nigerian corps members with knowledge and tools to challenge harmful norms, advocate for gender equality, and promote respect and accountability in their communities. Together, we emphasized the role of positive masculinity in preventing GBV and creating safer spaces for all, while inspiring these young leaders to become advocates for change. Special thanks to MenEngage Nigeria Network and Sonke Gender Justice for supporting this cause. #SRHRWorkshop #EndGBV #GenderEquality #PositiveMasculinity #YouthForChange #CommunityEngagement

The Advocates for Human Rights, the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (MIGS), and WAVE play a pivotal role in advocating for women's rights and combating gender-based violence on the global stage. Through their collaborative efforts, highlighted yesterday, these organizations shaped the recommendations presented during the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process for Cyprus and North Macedonia. During this cycle, these organizations pushed for stronger implementation of laws, enhancing victim support services, and ensuring sufficient funding for gender equality initiatives. The recent UPR findings for Cyprus and North Macedonia underscore both the progress made and the ongoing challenges in these areas. To learn more about the impact of their efforts and the recommendations accepted by both governments, read the full article: https://ow.ly/ANwe50UmNN7 #16Days #OrangeTheWorld #NoExcuse

🎉 Fantastic FREE resource alert! 🎉 ♀ The Fabulous Feminists ethos is to uplift everyone in our network through knowledge sharing and opening opportunities for discussion and reflection on all topic areas relating to gender equality. 💻 In this video, Lucy Ferguson, PhD addresses the specifics of Gender Transformative Evaluation of Training for Gender Equality. Lucy explains: ⭐ If evaluations are to contribute to training's transformative potential, they must adhere to a methodological approach based on feminist and participatory values and the deconstruction of power relations. ⭐ Evaluation of training programmes are key to identifying what training participants actually learn, and if training programmes truly bring the desired social and political change. ⭐ Gender-transformative evaluation is not merely about applying specific methods or tools. It involves a systematic engagement with the politics of change throughout both the evaluation process and the training cycle. 📑 There is also an accompanying document “Working Paper Gender-transformative Evaluation of Training”, by the UN Women Training Centre https://lnkd.in/d6iGdZaD #Feminists #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment https://lnkd.in/ejU2n5Uq

Gender mainstreaming of the EC Country Reports for the Western Balkans is steadily improving, as a result of the hard work of Women's Rights movements in the region. However, as Kvinna Till Kvinna has put it, progress is uneven. Take a look at Kvinna till Kvinna’s “Gender analysis of the 2023 European Commission country reports for the Western Balkans”. And if you want to dwell more on country specifics, here's a short commentary on the EC Country Report 2023 on Kosovo, written by me for the Kosovo Women's Network: https://lnkd.in/dM3GacMh
Our new Gender Analysis of the 2023 European Commission's Country Reports for the Western Balkans is out! 📢 The EU accession process remains the key window of opportunity to promote gender equality in Western Balkan countries. Progress in meeting the accession criteria and gender equality is mainly monitored through the European Commission Country Reports. ➡️ Our analysis shows that the gender mainstreaming of the EC Country Reports is steadily improving, but progress is uneven. Most reports now include official recommendations referring to gender equality in the fundamental rights section. However, the majority of chapters remain gender blind. Read our report and official recommendations to the European Commission DG NEAR and EU Delegations/Offices in Western Balkans here! 👇 https://lnkd.in/d6uDZV9M
