EMBS Community College received support from OxLEP Business through the Cherwell Business Adaptation Fund. At EMBS Community College, they seek to provide young people and adults with the education and skills needed to achieve qualifications, progress into employment and enhance their wellbeing. 'Our ambition is to continue to grow our young people (16-19) provision with a special focus on our specialist area of supporting those with high needs, EHCPs, 14-16s, to improve their confidence, wellbeing, sense of community and belonging and to enable them to progress into further education and/or the workplace.' The support from the Cherwell Business Adaptation fund has enabled the successful refurbishment of the East Street, Banbury site, creating ongoing opportunities for adults from all backgrounds to access English and maths skills, essential to work and life, as well as the creation of a brand new sixth form provision, supporting local young people to continue or re-engage in education, build their confidence, sense of community and wellbeing and to enable them to progress into further education and the workplace. The real estate industry is clearly taking the prospect of a Labour government seriously. It was standing room only for the Rt Hon Angela Rayner’s opening keynote at UKREiiF 2024. There were pledges to reform the planning system, which Rayner described as currently like ‘swimming through treacle’, with the bold vision to also create a number of new towns. Also mention of: - Setting up a new task force to identify potential sites for these new towns - Reinstating local housing targets - Revisiting nutrient neutrality policies - Prioritising social and affordable housing, including setting targets of up to 40% - Reforming both the current leasehold and rental system What struck me, however, was a recognition that for ‘every brick laid’ or ‘door handle’ fitted is not only a new home brought forward, but also a much needed job or apprenticeship created. The real estate industry is an economic powerhouse for the UK. Any new government must support it - removing unnecessary barriers to growth and ensuring more quality, sustainable new homes are built nationwide. #RealEstate #UKREiiF #Housing
