3 Indian snacks with Whisky Still munching on those boring packaged chaknas while sipping? No way!! If you do not have the right side dish along with your drink, let me tell you, it is going to be quite a buzz kill. For those who are new to this word, the term ‘chakna’ is an Indian colloquial word referring to side-dishes that are munched along with alcohol. Here are some of the delicious dishes that I personally enjoy with my drinks. 1️⃣Kebabs: Whether it's Kakori, Galoti, or Shami kebabs, flavour bombs are known for their hearty and robust flavours, and pair exceptionally well with smoky and peaty whiskies. 2️⃣Fried Fish: The crispy skin and the flaky meat of fish will really enhance the smoothness of your whisky. 3️⃣ Paapdi Chaat: All these flavours of the chaat will interact with your whisky and create an explosion of flavours on your palate. Pro tip? Elevate your experience by opting for hearty, freshly made dishes that not only satisfy but also complement your drinks, all while keeping things moderate. Let me know in the comments which chakna is your favourite or which one you're excited to try next. Cheers! 💬 #sonalholland #masterofwine #whisky #whiskey #indianfood #WineExpert #alcoholtips #whiskypairing

The Queen of Spices - Cardamom Cardamom is a familiar name in the spice world, but if asked to describe its flavor, you may be at a loss for words. This is because this spice has an extremely complex flavor profile, lending itself to both sweet and savory dishes. As the third most expensive spice in the world (only behind saffron and vanilla), cardamom has made quite a name for itself, even earning the nickname "The Queen of Spices." From Indian curries to Scandinavian breads, learn how to cook with this prized spice. Green Cardamom This is the more common variety of cardamom. It is often used in sweeter dishes, although it will work in savory as well. Green cardamom's flavor is more of what you would imagine when you think of cardamom: warm, herbal, citrusy, spicy, and even a bit minty all at the same time — impressive, right? You might also find what's known as "white cardamom," which is simply green cardamom that has been bleached. It tends to have a more faded flavor, but is a favorite throughout Scandinavian countries and much of northern Europe.

SAFFRON TEA Unwind with a cup of luxurious saffron tea this season! ☕️✨ Saffron adds a beautiful golden hue and delicate floral aroma to your tea. In this video, I show you how to make it step-by-step, from blooming the saffron to customizing it with your favorite spices. Save this post for the recipe and impress your friends and family with this delightful beverage! #saffrondrinks #saffrentea #goldenhour #homemaderecipes #relaxingvibes Ingredients: 🥛1 cup water 🪷3-5 saffron threads 🍯Honey or sugar (optional) 🍃Additional spices (optiona) 1️⃣Bloom the saffron: This step is key to releasing the full flavor and aroma of saffron. Heat the water in a saucepan or teapot over medium heat until just simmering (not boiling). Add the saffron threads and let them steep for 10-15 minutes. 2️⃣Prepare your tea: While the saffron steeps, you can choose to add loose leaf tea (black, green, white, etc.) or a teabag to your cup. If using loose leaf tea, steep it according to package instructions. If using a teabag, simply steep it in hot water for the recommended time. 3️⃣Combine and enjoy: After the saffron has steeped, strain the water into your cup with the prepared tea (if using). Add honey, sugar, or another sweetener to taste, if desired. 🟡A little saffron goes a long way. Don't use too much, as it can overpower the taste of the tea. 🟣Use high-quality saffron for the best flavor. 🟢You can adjust the steeping time of the saffron water depending on how strong you like the flavor. 10-15 minutes is a good starting point. https://lnkd.in/eTNz9-yV

**Kiriya** (sometimes spelled "Kiriya") is a traditional Sri Lankan dessert known for its creamy texture and sweet, coconut-infused flavor. This dessert is similar to a rice pudding and is typically made using a few simple ingredients: rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, and a touch of salt. Some variations might include cardamom or vanilla for added flavor. ### Ingredients and Preparation: 1. **Rice Flour**: The base of the dessert, giving it a smooth, pudding-like texture. 2. **Coconut Milk**: Provides the rich, creamy flavor characteristic of many Sri Lankan sweets. 3. **Sugar**: Adds sweetness. 4. **Salt**: A pinch of salt enhances the flavor. 5. **Optional Flavorings**: Spices like cardamom or a hint of vanilla may be added. The preparation involves gently cooking the rice flour in coconut milk until it thickens, then sweetening it with sugar. The mixture is stirred continuously to prevent lumps and ensure a smooth consistency. Once it reaches the desired thickness, it is often poured into molds or bowls to set. It can be served warm or chilled, often garnished with nuts or grated coconut for added texture. **Kiriya** is a popular dessert, especially during festive occasions or as a treat in Sri Lankan households. Its simplicity and delightful taste make it a comforting and satisfying dish.
