We should focus on improving the lives of our providers so they can deal with the stressful situations they experience by… *checks notes* … advocating against a law that requires organizations to provide sick leave for their employees. For anyone unaware, the Earned Sick Time Act states that employers need to offer at least 72 hours a year of sick time to employees. For a 12 hour EMS professional on a 36/48 schedule that comes out to ~1.5 pay periods of sick time. For a 24 hour EMS professional on either a 48 or 52 hour work week it comes out to 3 shifts a year. Maybe this is why we have a retention problem in EMS
