Now Hiring: Code Compliance Officer I/II/III Salary: $63,950.41 - $108,446.11 Annually Under immediate supervision (I), to general supervision (II/III), performs progressively complex investigatory work related to the enforcement of adopted county regulatory ordinances. Investigates and reports on related complaints and issues warnings, notices, and citations. At the III level may serve as the lead to lower-level Code Compliance Officers. The ideal candidate will have proficient user experience working on computers and various Microsoft Office and case tracking programs and have the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders in challenging situations with a high degree of tact and diplomacy. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills. This candidate will have familiarity with and experience using a variety of enforcement notices/tools. They will also have a background in enforcing public laws, regulations, building codes or zoning ordinances. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable. Ever had to deal with this? Have any tips to share? Mine are: - keep emails forever - document discussions - escalate professionally, focusing on business costs. - put stuff in writing whenever you can - legal staff don’t care about whether or not you are correct. Like HR, they are there to keep the bosses from being sued. - no one will care that the warning were made ahead of time - domain registrations will expire no matter how many people get mad at your warnings. :). - bosses who lie about their being warned ahead of time will work with legal to make sure the people doing the warning are blamed instead of the boss.
