Development across the Boston area is slowing as high interest rates and inflation make builders more hesitant to start new projects. But when the next wave of development comes, it will notably not take place downtown, in the Seaport or even Back Bay. It’ll be in underutilized stretches of Dorchester and Somerville, and historically industrial tracts of Allston, Charlestown and South Boston.
DASNY is always looking to stay on the cutting edge for its clients. This week, President Robert Rodriguez was able to see how modular construction is transforming the service potential at Odyssey House, a NYS OASAS provider agency. In 2010 DASNY began exploring the utilization of modular construction to serve agencies and organizations across New York and has completed multiple projects in that time. Now, in New York City, DASNY is managing the expansion of the George Rosenfeld Center for Recovery. This three-story, 22,500 sq. ft., expansion consists of 71 modular units. Beginning in December 2023, the project will be completed in the Summer of 2025, saving 12 months over traditional construction.

Did you know Alliance and South Dallas have seen more industrial space added since 2020 than most other metropolitan areas have in the last decade? This record-shattering construction cycle in DFW’s outfield might be coming to a close, as recent figures suggest developers are beginning to look inwards once again as price differences erode.
Outfield activity peaked in early 2023, consisting of nearly 83% of all ongoing industrial construction at the time. Since then, the spread has been shrinking as developers move forward with plans to bring new space to key infield locations like D/FW Airport or the Eastern Lonestar Turnpike. Newly christened projects, like the Shady Grove Logistics Crossing in Grand Prairie, show an appetite for new infield industrial space returning to the market. If you are interested in the #UK remaining a global hub for life sciences and thus enhancing one of our most important USPs then follow Constructing Science (below).
Its the first-of-its-kind building dynamic model and building standard guidance that enables decision makers to quickly determine whether an existing or proposed lab building is suitable for the type of scientific work planned for the space.
There have been two big publications since its launch in July 2023 by our company EEDN in collaboration with other industry heavyweights: a general guidance and an operational readiness - the latter offering practical resources to how successful #OperationalReadiness can be achieved and it is aimed at all parties engaging with new science laboratory facilities – from design and construction professionals to facility owners, operators and managers, as well as the science teams who will occupy the building as tenants (reports here: https://lnkd.in/eU7vmVDp).
For those who have little interest in #science or #construction (or, more commonly, don’t know what the hell #lifesciences is) then Page 13 of the general guidance breaks it down very neatly.
Lucky for some, eh?
