There ya have it folks... Diesel runaway occurs when a diesel engine continues to run and uncontrollably rev past its recommended RPMs, even after being turned off. This can happen when the engine starts using an unintended fuel source, like built-up oil or external hydrocarbons. Runaway diesel engines can cause significant damage to the engine and pose safety risks to people nearby. Here's what happens during a runaway event: *Fuel source: The engine starts using an external fuel source, like hydrocarbon vapors from the air intake. *RPM increase: The engine overspeeds, exceeding its designed RPM limits. *Loss of control: Regular controls like the ignition or throttle become ineffective. *Engine damage: Overheating and running dry can cause parts to warp or bend. *Fire risk: The vehicle may catch fire or the engine could explode.
