We know what you're thinking—how can this possibly be true? The potent combination of Christmas spirit, excessive alcohol, and endless social plans surely propels December to at least a podium finish in the lost property league table. As it turns out, the lead-up to the 25th sees strong figures, with 12.5% more misplaced possessions than the daily average. However, the nether region between Boxing Day and New Year—where days of the week blend into one another, and you survive solely off leftovers and celebrations—sees so few lost items that they skew December's figures, ruining weeks of hard work. The result is a data trap. You may think your phone, keys and wallet are safe over Christmas, but until you make it to the big day, keep your wits about you.
