Please read my latest blog on the efforts to make physical activity assessment, prescription and referral a standard of care on the ActivSport Advisory website at the link below!
It's Finally Time: Physical Activity Will Become a Standard of Care https://lnkd.in/gkdcFvKJ As a former president of the Physical Activity Alliance, I was especially proud of and excited for their "It's Time to Move" campaign, which aims to integrate physical activity assessment, prescription, and referral into the US healthcare system. Among the key elements of “It’s Time to Move”: *Establishing an HL7 Standard for Physical Activity Assessment: Standardizes interoperability for measuring, reporting, and improving patient physical activity levels *Covers assessment, planning, prescription, referral, monitoring, and engagement *Leveraging USREPS (United States Registry of Exercise Professionals): Addresses clinician concerns about exercise professional qualifications Maintains a registry of professionals with NCCA and/or ISO accredited certifications *Using the US National Exercise Referral Framework: Helps identify appropriate exercise professionals based on patient health status *Covers physician-supervised to physician-recommended scenarios How Fitness Facilities and Professionals Can Prepare: *Consider Medical Fitness Association Certification: Demonstrates commitment to providing an optimal environment for physician-referred patients *Ensure HIPAA/GINA Compliance: Protect patient information and privacy *Audit Staff Credentials: Verify current certifications from NCCA or ISO-accredited programs Ensure registration with USREPS *Develop Outcome-Based Programs: Create scalable, reproducible programs for common health conditions Focus on measurable health outcomes *Offer Programs to Members and Non-Members: Expand access to outcome-based programs *Reinforce your facility's role in community health By implementing these guidelines, fitness facilities can position themselves as leaders in integrating physical activity into healthcare. This proactive approach will prepare you to receive referrals and contribute significantly to improving public health. The "It's Time to Move" campaign represents a transformative effort to address gaps in physical activity data collection, exercise prescription, and referral to qualified practitioners. As an industry, we have a unique opportunity to make physical activity a standard of care in the US healthcare system. Are you ready to be at the forefront of this movement? How is your facility preparing to meet the evolving needs of healthcare-referred clients and how can ActivSport Advisory help? Let's discuss how we can collectively elevate the role of physical activity in healthcare and enhance the quality of life for countless individuals. It's time to act!

🚨 ONE CALL AWAY 🚨 Every shift, every day, EMT's & Medics are just one call away from a mass casualty incident; that moment where maximum exertion and energy output become non-negotiable. It’s a reality that every EMT and paramedic faces everyday. The moment where every second counts and their strength, endurance, and mental resilience will be tested like never before. Imagine carrying multiple patients, sprinting between scenes, lifting heavy equipment, and making split-second decisions under pressure. Now imagine doing all of that with aching joints, a stiff back, or without the stamina needed to sustain those efforts. That’s why fitness for EMS isn’t a luxury; it’s an absolute must. It’s about building the kind of strength that supports you through the longest calls, the kind of endurance that keeps you sharp at hour 12, and the kind of mobility that prevents injuries and keeps you on your feet. TAC TEAM FITNESS is preparing EMS for that call—for those high-intensity moments when you need to be at your best. Because when you're called to action, it’s not just about saving lives; it’s about being able to sustain the response until every life is safe. Your health is not an afterthought; it’s the foundation. Let’s prepare together for that moment we all know can come at any time. 💪🏽🚑 What Do You Think? #EMSWellness #TACFitness #FirstResponderHealth #EMSPreparedness #StrengtheningEMS #MissionReady #TacticalTraining #VeteranOwned #OneCallAway

🌟 Weekend Wellness: Prioritizing Rest & Relaxation 🌟 As we head into the weekend, let’s take a moment to focus on the importance of rest and relaxation—especially for caregivers, family members, and individuals in the elderly and developmentally disabled communities. Why Rest Matters: -Physical Rejuvenation: A break from daily routines gives the body time to recharge and heal. -Mental Clarity: Taking time to unwind helps clear the mind, reducing stress and increasing focus for the days ahead. -Emotional Balance: Relaxation nurtures emotional health, promoting a positive outlook and boosting overall morale. Tips for a Relaxing Weekend: -Gentle Activities: Try a calming activity like listening to music, reading, or light yoga to keep the body active while still promoting relaxation. -Unplug & Unwind: Take time away from screens and embrace quiet moments, whether that’s a cup of tea or a walk in nature. -Self-Care Time: Whether it's caregivers or loved ones, taking care of yourself is essential. Rest is key to being your best self for others. This weekend, prioritize rest and relaxation—you deserve it! 📞 Need support or tips? Why I Love What I Do In my journey with the Ergoflip chair, I’ve come to realise that helping the elderly regain mobility isn’t just about improving their physical health—it's about bringing joy and a renewed sense of life. Movement is key to a longer, happier life, especially as we age. Simple actions, like easing the pressure of sitting for hours (what we sometimes call "butt dead syndrome"), can make all the difference in their comfort and overall well-being. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the smiles when residents feel the benefits of movement and experience how the right tools can drastically improve their daily quality of life. Educating aged care about the importance of mobility is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work. The Ergoflip chair isn't just a product; it’s a way to make a real difference in people's lives. For every bit of resistance we face, whether it’s from those who haven’t trialed it yet, I know the benefits far outweigh the challenges. To be a part of this change—to help create a healthier, more active environment for our elderly—is something I’m deeply proud of. Daily deposits are what I call those consistent, low entry-point things we can do (almost) daily to move the needle towards improving your health. Movement! While you're going to the gym and working out, it's also a great idea to increase your movement throughout the day in general. We are not meant to be stagnant unless we are resting, recovering, or sleeping. Sitting or standing for long periods of time can definitely make us feel "not-so-great". Let's get some extra movement into our day by sprinkling it in more mindfully. Some helpful ways to tackle this is to set a timer so you have a reminder to cue you to shake it up, get a quick little walk in around your workspace. You can use part of your morning, lunch, or post dinner time to squeeze in a walk or bike ride, before you netflix and chill. I tend to pump out a few lunges and push ups while I make my coffee in the AM and between patients. What are some things you do to increase your movement in your day? #fitnessfriday Be good to your body, and it'll be good to you! It's a direct relationship. Just like with people, if you squander your innumerable chances to strengthen, improve, remedy, or address underlying issues, eventually, things catch up to you! It's taken me YEARS to get my ankles to a more flexible point, however, I had identified with a trainer that decidedly limited mobility was holding me back. Why was I unable to properly load weight to safely move it? Inflexibility, NOT weakness, or lack of desire, or that I'm particularly lazy, but improper form that was a result of the tightness. Put your mechanics into the microscope with a mobility pro to level-set on where you are, and what you need to do for a better tomorrow! We all have something to work on, of course! I was looking at Virginia's movements, so effortless, while she was recently playing. Squatting, loading, bending, turning, snapping her head this way and that, and honestly crushing it! By comparison, I'm still forcing myself to turn around while backing up because while I have a camera, I feel it takes a bit of stretch, and I do not want to lose the ability to turn that way for a long time! Sound familiar? Are you checking the camera, or do you adjust your body? We are designed to be able to move with grace, strength, and proper mechanics! Humans dominate the pinnacle position when it comes to traversing long distances over land amongst the entire animal kingdom. Isn't that amazing? MOVE, today! Little Virginia, in farmer dress, has no idea how capable and amazing she is, but I'm her biggest fan! #healthrosetta #breakthestatusquo #innovationatwork #FMMA #savannahga #metabolichealth Prosperity Benefits, LLC Community-Owned Health Plans Health Rosetta Free Market Medical Association
